Monsta X is a Hip-Hop South Korean boy group who have charted on Billboard. The group was created in 2015 through Mnet’s No Mercy, the variety reality survival show under Starship Entertainment. Monsta X consists of six talented members, Shownu, Kihyun, Minhyuk, Hyungwon, Joohoney, and I.M. Wonho was the seventh member who debuted in 2015 by surviving ten episodes of the show but quit the group in October 2019 and made a solo debut in 2020.
On May 14, 2015, the band’s first EP, titled Trespass, was made available. In March 2017, Monsta X’s first studio album and The Clan Pt. 2.5: The Final Chapter, the final piece in The Clan series, were both released.
The Recording Industry Association of Japan certified the group’s four Japanese singles as gold in 2018, and nine of its Korean albums and extended plays were certified as platinum in 2019 by the Korea Music Content Association. The band’s debut English album, All About Luv, debuted in 2020 and reached the fifth and seventh spots on the US Billboard 200 and US Rolling Stone Top 200, respectively.

Sohn Hyun Woo (Shownu)
Shownu, the leader of Monsta X and the group’s principal dancer and lead vocalist was born on the 18th of June, 1922, in Changdong, Donbonggu, Seoul, South Korea, as his parents’ lone child. His stage name is Shownu, different from his given name, Sohn Hyun Woo. He doesn’t have any siblings.
He started as a trainee at JYP Entertainment. In 2009, he won first place in the same auditions. He was heralded for his superb dance ability, but he was only allowed to work with JYP Entertainment for a little amount of time—just two years.
Originally slated to make his debut with GOT 7, Shownu was forced to leave owing to poor attendance at practice. Shownu continued in the idol industry and as a backup dancer in Lee Hyori’s music videos for U-Go-Girl, Going Crazy, and Bad Girls.
But, then, he was selected in NUBOYZ after auditioning at Starship Entertainment, and with this, he was also a part of future Monsta X members. Shownu debuted under Starship Entertainment as Monsta X after participating along with six Monsta X members in No Mercy, a Mnet survival show, in December 2014. Yoo Ki-hyun, popularly known by his stage name Kihyun was born in Goyang, South Korea, on the 22nd of November, 1993. He is the main vocalist in Monsta X. I.M. is Monsta X’s lead rapper, singer, composer, and maknae. His given name is Im Chang-Kyun, was born on the 6th of October, 1994, in Gwangju, South Korea.
