One of the most popular Anime series `Detective Conan’ has released its 26th film of their franchise on 14 April 2023, Detective Conan: Kurugone no Submarine (Iron Submarine). The film has only been released in Japan so far, and the release date for the rest of the world has not been announced yet.
Detective Conan: Kurugone no Submarine film is a pre-story of the 1080th episode of the series which was aired on 15 April 2023. The story will take place on Hachijō-Jima island at the marine facility “Pacific Bay.”
Many engineers all throughout the whole world came to Hachijō-Jima island for the launching ceremony of a new system that can connect every law enforcement camera system around the world and enable facial recognition system software worldwide. The system is guarded by the police force.
Conan and his friends Kogoro, Ran, Asaga, Haibara, and the Detective boys were invited by Sunoko to Hachijō-Jima island to watch whales. As they were heading towards the island, they received a phone call from Sabaru Okiya stating that a Europol agent had been murdered in Germany by the Black Organization’s Gin.
Conan and his friends managed to sneak into the ship which was heading for the Black Organization. Meanwhile, a female engineer was kidnapped by the Black Organization to get every bit of information from her USB drive.
Detective Conan’s 26th Movie Box Office Competition
Detective Conan’s 26th movie (Detective Conan: Kurugone no Submarine) made an impressive box office collection of 3,146,387,340 yen (which is around 23.48 million USD0 in its first three days of release. Overall 2,176,407 tickets were sold in the first three days of release.
The film became the highest-grossing film of the Detective Conan franchise in its first three days of collection, crossing the great records of the franchise’s previous film, Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween (the 25th film of the Detective Conan franchise). The film collected 64% more profit in the first three days of collection than its previous film.
The film is now in the third place in top-grossing Japanese animation film in 2023 (at the moment, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Kaiba – To The Swordsmith Village is in first place with a box office of 4.06 billion yen and Doraemon: Nobita’s Sky Utopia is at 2nd place with box office collection 3.83 billion yen).
Based on its successful box office opening collection of three days, it is predicted that the film will surpass both the films and become the highest-grossing Japanese animation film of 2023 within a few weeks.
The First three-day box office collection is as follows:
Day 1: (14th April): The film did a collection of 858,837,700 yen (USD 6.34 Million est.) and sold over 582,776 Tickets on its opening day.
Day 2: (15th April): On its day two, the film did a box office collection of 1,189,411,600 yen (USD 8.8 Million est.) and sold over 823,358 Tickets.
Day 3: (16th April): On its third day at the box office, it collected 1,098,138,040 yen (USD 8.1 Million est.) and sold over 770,273 Tickets.
Toho Cinema expects this film to become the franchise’s first-ever film to cross the benchmark of 10 billion Yen (Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween did a gross collection of 9.78 Billion yen and fell short of 22 Million yen to reach the 10 billion mark).
The film was directed by Mr. Yuzuru Tachikawa, who has also directed great anime like Mob Psycho 100, Death Parade, Blue Giant, etc.
The Black Organization In The Movie
The whole story revolves around The Black Organization and their evil intent to get their hand on the new system that connects every law enforcement camera system worldwide and enables facial recognition systems worldwide. The reason is still unknown that why they want the new system. To know more about the new system, the Black Organization kidnaps a female engineer as she is carrying a USB that contains information regarding the new system.
The Black Organization is led by the head Renya karasuma and Rum, who is second in command. The organization consists of six lead members and eight normal members. Conan and his friend are on their way to stop the Black Organization from getting their hands on the new system.
You will see many action sequences and gadgets such as a Turbo engine skateboard, telescopic lenses, wristwatch flashlight, voice changing choker, and mini air tank. As for now, the movie has been rated 8.4 on IMDB by 14 users.
