Min leaving Miss A was one of the biggest news in the K-Pop industry. After being trained under JYP Entertainment for years, Min made her official debut in the South Korean industry as the main dancer in the girl group “Miss A” on July 1, 2010. The group marked their debut with their single “Bad Girl Good Girl” from their debut EP titled “Bad But Good”. To date, it is one of the most successful and popular song tracks on the list.
It is very true that the girl group was a success in the industry and was loved by both their domestic and international fans. Therefore, Min deciding not to renew her contract with the company came as a surprise to many out there. Though her decision about her career has led to a greater good as, at present, she is one of the most popular solo artists in the South Korean entertainment industry.
Min Leaving Miss A: The Story Inside
The reason for Min leaving Miss A has been a simple one. After being with the group for years, Min left the agency at the end of her contract term with JYP Entertainment. The announcement for the same was made by JYP on November 8, 2017. The company stated that Min has decided not to renew her contract, and this marks the end of her journey with the group Miss A and the entertainment company.
Min leaving Miss A led to a major setback for the group. The fate of the group was left hanging after she walked out of the company as the girl group’s other members like Suzy and Fei, both have released solo EPs and have successful solo careers.
In an interview with singer eSNa on July 22, 2021, Min shared how she was kicked out of JYP three times before she made her debut with Miss A. In her trainee days, Min was only around 12 years old, and she was kicked out of the company on three occasions in the span of 10 years for not losing weight. During that whole period of time, she lost crazy weight and was around 40, 45 to 46 Kilograms.
This whole theory of fitting inside the entire motto of strict Korean beauty standards has been harsh on many K-Pop idols out there. Losing weight has been one of the most common agendas out there. This whole concept has pushed many idols into the depth of depression and many health disorders, and still, most of them have managed to pull through bravely.
Min leaving Miss A has been a career turnover for her, and seeing her getting more into solo projects and collaborations has been pleasing and inspiring for many out there.
