Michelle Yeoh is working on Avatar 2 and the other sequels, and in a recent interview, the actress talked a bit about her role and the highly anticipated films. The sophomore installment of the Avatar franchise is finally hitting theatres in December this year. Sequel to the 2009 biggest blockbuster of all time, the movie has gone through numerous delays. Just to put into context the amount of delay there has been, the first Avatar film came out in 2009. That’s a tremendous amount of time between the release of two movies of the same franchise.
This fact hasn’t eluded James Cameron or the fans. The director has been busy with the films ever since the first one hit theatres. The massive delays also owe to the fact that Cameron has been filming and working on all the sequels of Avatar simultaneously. Following the second one, Avatar 2, 3, 4, and 5 are going to release with a consistent 2-year-gap. However, there’s another reason why the sequels are taking so long to hit theatres. That’s the extremely exhaustive amount of groundbreaking technological wizardry that’s going on to make these movies. Another great aspect of the potential of these sequels is the cast.
Michelle Yeoh Shoots For Avatar 2, Shares Details
Now the immensely talented Michelle Yeoh has joined Avatar 2. The actress recently shed some light on what she has been up to with the filming of the movie. Talking with Entertainment Weekly, Yeoh shared her excitement about the movie and her role. Yeoh revealed that she has shot for a few weeks so far, indicating that her part is not over yet, and she is definitely a major character. This makes sense since casting an A-lister like her for a minor character would be wasteful. Although there’s barely anything available about the movie or Yeoh’s role, we can expect her role to be a significant one.
Along with Yeoh, other major Hollywood names attached to the sequels so far include Kate Winslet and Vin Diesel. Yeoh agreed how she was in the Avatar sequels; however, she can’t really talk very much about it. Sharing her excitement over working with James Cameron, she added how it was James Cameron, and she would be the tea lady for him! They shot for a few weeks, and she was very impressed with the work that he’s done. She thinks of him as a walking genius. “And I really really enjoyed the experience, and I can’t wait to go back soon, I hope,” Michelle added.
Michelle Yeoh will star in Avatar 2 which hits theatres on December 16, 2022.
