May I Kill You, Your Majesty? is the story of Earendel. Earendel is the illegitimate daughter of Duke Bellerophon. Even though she was promised the Bellerophon name, she never received it. She had a very hard time growing up. Her step-siblings would always pick on her. But she held on, hoping that one day she would be accepted by her family and become worthy of the Bellerophon name.
One day as she was making her way through the local market, she was approached by an old woman who was selling jewelry. The woman offered a ring for her to try on. Even though hesitant, Earendel gave in and wore the ring. At that moment, a bright light developed her, and when she came to, the old woman was gone. Little did she know, her life was changed forever.
This is where Castiane Deferto comes in. Castian is the illegitimate son of the King. He led a successful rebellion seizing power for himself. And in the process, he killed any of those who stood in his way. And one such family was the Bellerophons. When the Prince’s men came for them, they escaped leaving Earendel at the mercy of her Prince Castiane Deferto.
She was put to the guillotine like so many others before her. As she felt the cold hard blade hit the back of her neck, she found herself back at the market. She seems to have regressed in time to the day she first tried on the ring. This happened three more times, confirming her ability. She believes that the ring is responsible. Now that she knows the future, she hatches a plan.
To get into the good side of Prince Castiane before the rebellion, thereby securing her life and destruction of her abusive step-family. She befriends Kin, who is supposedly a knight of Prince Castiane. But in reality, Prince Castiane and Kin are one and the same. Castiane is putting up with this charade to see if Earendel is trustworthy. She proved to be so and then some.
The villain of the story is Castiane’s stepmother Yudike Judia. She is the Queen of the empire and has been after Castiane’s life for as long as he can remember. Queen Yudike had Castiane’s mother assassinated. The knight who was charged with killing Castiane took pity on him and raised him, only to be killed by the Queen’s men. Castiane is on the warpath.
May I Kill You, Your Majesty? Recap – What To Know Before Reading Chapter 26?
In the previous chapters, the leader of the Wizard Tower, Infestis, came to the Bellerophon Estate. From him, we learned that the box with the list of families that was colluding with the Queen was enchanted with a very powerful spell. A spell that would burn anyone who is not Infestis to a crisp if they tried to open it. You might recall that Earendel opened it with no issue.
She did remark how the box felt hot, but nothing else happened. The only thing they know about the intruders from that day is that one of them had feminine purple eyes. And the only person around with those features is Earendel. Infestis came to investigate as he was under the impression that Earendel was a powerful mage, possibly stronger than him.
Infestis learned a lesson he would never forget. He tried to attack Earendel, but something protected her. It appeared as black smoke, and it caused Infestis to collapse in pain. He recognized the smoke as a Curse. However, Earendel seems to not know about it. But we did see a glimpse of a memory where people were calling her a witch, so there is a story there.
Infestis took Earendel back to the Wizard Tower, where she is now imprisoned. Castiane learned what happened at the Bellerophon Estate and rushed to the tower. He met with Infestis, who explained what happened. Castiane asked Earendel to be released back to him. He used the fact that the wizard tower is working with the Queen to extort a favorable outcome.
May I Kill You, Your Majesty? Spoilers – What To Expect From Chapter 26?
Prince Castiane successfully negotiated the release of Earendel from Infestis’s Custody. In the upcoming chapter, we might get an explanation for Earendel’s bizarre abilities. It doesn’t look like she has any control over it, just that it activates when Earendel is in danger. However, the question remains. Why did they not save her life when she was killed the first time?
