According to Matthew McConaughey’s declaration on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, January is a joyous occasion full of birthdays and festivities.
The 54-year-old actor highlighted the progression of holidays such as Christmas and New Year’s while describing the ongoing spirit of the season. The true test, though, is when his family’s birthdays roll around.
McConaughey has a lot of back-to-back celebrations because his mother, who recently turned 92, has a birthday on January 7, his daughter has a birthday on January 3, and his son Livingston celebrates on December 28. When his kids were younger, they used to combine Christmas and New Year’s Day celebrations into one large event. However, as they’ve matured, they no longer accept that arrangement.
Matthew McConaughey shares about his hectic times
McConaughey humorously explained his approach to getting through this hectic time: “You got to prep, you party, reset, party again.” Prepare, celebrate, and restart.”
He also mentioned that January 28 is his wife’s birthday, which falls at the end of the month. Despite the hectic schedule, McConaughey noted that once they get past Valentine’s Day, the rest of the year tends to be smoother.
The “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” actor also related a humorous story about his daughter’s birthday celebration. She mentioned that she wanted to ride rollercoasters the night before her birthday. The family ultimately spent the following morning at Six Flags Fiesta Texas, where McConaughey experienced some soreness from riding every rollercoaster several times.
To make the adventure even more exciting, his kids told him that his phone had fallen out of his pocket on the very last ride. When the actor found out that the phone had fallen in the middle of a swamp, his worries gave way to relief. He was reassured by Six Flags employees that they would attempt to get it back once the park closed.
The following day, at 6:00 PM, McConaughey received a surprise and delight when he discovered that his cellphone was still functional!
Rare Photos of Matthew McConaughey’s 14-Year-Old Daughter Vida
In honor of his daughter Vida’s 14th birthday, Matthew McConaughey posted two unusual pictures to Instagram. “To Vida, who never passed a flower she didn’t pick, Happy Birthday,” read the touching caption, which conveyed McConaughey’s admiration for Vida’s love of flowers.
The actor clarified that the post was a day late because of a roller coaster mishap at Vida’s birthday party, even though her actual birthday was on January 3.
The pictures showed Vida in two different environments: one in a field with an oversized plaid shirt, and the other with tie-dyed sweatpants and white sneakers while taking in a stunning sunset.
The striking similarity between Vida and her mother, Brazilian model Camila Alves McConaughey, whom Matthew married in 2012, was immediately noticed by McConaughey’s 9.3 million Instagram followers. Fans poured in the comments, calling Vida “Camila’s mini-me” and pointing out that she is a “copy of Camila.”
