As we approach Masamune-kun no Revenge: Engagement Chapter 7, things are not looking good as he has been caught cheating red-handed by Aki in the last chapter.
Even though this is a misunderstanding, it would be hard for Makabe to get out of this situation unscathed as he has done various shady stuff lately which would all come back to bite him.
Masamune-kun no Revenge: Engagement is a spinoff of the original Masamune-kun no Revenge manga and it continues the story of Aki and Makabe in their long-distance relationship but the love triangle persists in the series as a new character has arrived who apparently wants to get married to Makabe!?
Masamune-kun no Revenge: Engagement Chapter 6 “I Screwed Up”: Recap
The chapter opens up with Aki recalling her first day at Hokuchi University. As soon as she enters the University, two boys approach her and ask her to join them in their Jinpa party. Aki realizes that they are trying to hit on her and so she immediately refuses their advances because, for her, Makabe is above any party.
Aki tells those boys that she has a boyfriend but they take it as a joke and say that long-distance relationships don’t last long. They start talking among themselves about how Aki would break up soon because, in long-distance relationships, men are free to do whatever they want.
Aki sighs at their ignorant prejudice because she believes that Makabe is different. After that day, Makabe and Aki spent their summer holidays together and frequently contacted each other. Fast forward to the present, Makabe forgot about the second anniversary of their relationship and so he promised to talk to Aki overnight.
Aki lies down on her bed waiting for Makabe to call her and she starts to doubt if Makabe would keep his promise as he has not picked up any of her calls for a while now. Meanwhile, the reason Makabe hasn’t picked up Aki’s call is that he is trying to help Iroha. After all, she got sick after getting fired from her job.
Makabe takes Iroha to his home and calms her down. Iroha still acts angry because of what the old man at the store did to her. Makabe feels confused because Iroha acts as if she hates people touching her but she had no issues forcing a kiss on him. Iroha tells Makabe that now she has finally realized how hard it is to work.
Makabe smiles and says that despite all that, she still has to find a husband who’s immune to the curse. He tells Iroha that if he was in her spot then he would’ve just run away even if he had to work part-time to make ends meet.
Iroha says that her family has always been succeeded by women and all they need men for is their seed. She says that all men in her family suffer from the curse and die early, the same thing which happened to her three previous fiancees. Iroha says that she truly feels sad for them because they have no escape, just like a bird in a cage.
Iroha’s expression suddenly changes as she holds Makabe and says that she will protect him until he becomes her husband. Makabe gets scared and runs away, he then asks Iroha to just go to sleep. She asks him if he wants to know all about her overnight because doing “it” right now is too far. Makabe gets embarrassed and he asks her to just go to sleep.
Iroha eventually goes to sleep and Makabe calls Frank to dig for some information. Iroha dreams of her childhood while sleeping and how her cousin died due to the curse. She runs towards her brother and cries while hugging him. Shinobu looks at the sky and says that he wishes to be free like a bird.
Iroha says that she will find a way to break the curse and save her brother and then she wakes up. She finds that a phone has been constantly ringing which ruined her sleep and so she answers it. Makabe enters the room and finds that it’s his phone and the person calling is none other than Aki.
