In NBC’s medical drama “Brilliant Minds,” Mandy Patinkin joins as a recurring character, playing an esteemed family doctor at Bronx General Hospital.
Known for his unconventional methods and dedication to long-standing patient relationships, he forms a mentor-like bond with Dr. Wolf, the lead character.
His arrival promises to significantly impact the hospital’s dynamics, according to showrunner Michael Grassi.
“Brilliant Minds,” previously titled “Dr. Wolf,” follows Dr. Oliver Wolf, a larger-than-life neurologist inspired by Oliver Wolf Sacks.
The series explores Dr. Wolf’s interactions with various patients, including a rugged motorcycle mechanic facing a tough decision due to a gunshot wound (played by Steve Howey) and an Alzheimer’s patient reconnecting with family in end-of-life care (portrayed by André De Shields).
The show also features a diverse cast including Tamberla Perry, Ashleigh LaThrop, Alex MacNicoll, Aury Krebs, Spence Moore II, Teddy Sears, and Donna Murphy.
