The story takes place in a village called Dae Myeong. Go Jung Hoon, a scholar who was known as an expert in ancient languages and lived there with his seven-year-old son named Jinyong. Whenever Jinyong enters his father’s study he sees his father handling and reading smelly books. He didn’t really like his father’s profession and hanging out with his father in his study was something he couldn’t even think about.
However, whenever he was able to spend time with his father, his father would tell him stories about his mom with a glass of alcohol. Even though Jinyong disliked the smell of the alcohol, he didn’t dislike hearing stories about his mom. He, just like any other young kid would, misses his mother at times but pretends to not miss his mother just so his father doesn’t worry about him.
A day in the life of Jinyoung comes when his father receives some important work from the higher-ups and leaves after letting a nanny take care of Jinyoung. Out of curiosity, Jinyong finds a way to get to the location where his father keeps his antiques by going to his father’s study one day after his father takes a leave.
There, Jinyong discovers a box containing the items that his father has spent his entire life looking for. He places a menacing octagonal token in that box. When he goes for the box to hold it back, his palm is splintered, and blood drips upon the eerie octagonal token, which then begins to sparkle.
Previously on Magic Scholar Chapter 22: Recap
We have yet another chapter where Jinyoung doesn’t disappoint us with his skillset and knowledge. As we saw in the previous chapter, Jinyoung fights with the Emperor’s most trusted man and wins against him using his smartness and cunningness.
This greatly impresses his highness and grants Jinyoung a wish of his choice. Things are once again going great for Jinyoung as he wants. He requests to seek answers to just one of his questions as he wishes.
Jinyoung uses the opportunity wisely and tells the emperor that all he wishes to know is the whereabouts of just one person who may or may not belong to the royalty. The emperor then tells him that knowing information about the royalties could put his life in danger.
However, before Jinyoung could ask his question and before the emperor could answer him, a young lady comes by and interrupts. She asks Jinyoung if he would want to join them on their journey across the borders as they head that way and Jinyoung agrees to do so.
Magic Scholar Chapter 23: What To Expect From The Upcoming Chapter?
As the previous chapter ended without Jinyoung being able to ask his question and seek answers for the same, we can predict that he might possibly receive his answers in the upcoming chapter. And as the emperor has mentioned earlier, the information he gains about the royalty could put his life in danger and could lead to various violence-filled scenes.
We will also clearly learn in the next chapters who Jinyoung was interested in and wanted to know the whereabouts of. We, readers, are definitely kept interested by the writers’ flawless pacing of the tale.
