When it comes to the rinse-and-repeat formula on reality television concerning rich women past their prime doing stuff they wouldn’t normally do, nothing beats that approach than Bravo’s take.
In this case, a new show from cast members of The Real Housewives of New York is making its way to the screens on this summer’s Sunday nights. Luann and Sonja is a spin-off to RHONY that takes Mrs. Morgan and de Lesseps to a small rural town in Illinois for some philanthropic work.
God only knows what’s behind this, because this take on two RHONY cast members go to a town, the “Simple Life style” is not quite like them.
Maybe they have some community service hours to fulfill as part of some sentence, maybe they have too much money and need to elude taxes someway, maybe they’re in need of attention and cajoled Bravo into making a show. But in any case, the show is here and today we’re sharing details with you about it ahead of its premiere.
Luann & Sonja: Welcome to Crappie Lake Preview
This is essentially a Real Housewives of New York City spin-off where Luann de Lesseps and Sonja Morgan travel to a small town in Illinois called Benton, a rural and close-knit community whose economy was heavily stricken by Covid, and try to bring the town back up by doing some community work and philanthropy.
This is the kind of show that will blend the sass and glitz of the Housewives franchise with elements of seeing two middle-aged women past their prime do some sort of philanthropy work all while being filmed in some setting that brings back vibes of that Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie in the Simple Life from the early 2000s.
