Love Live! Superstars!! Season 2 Episode 7 is set to release this weekend. Love Live! Superstars!! The anime television series Superstar is the fourth installment of the Love Live franchise produced by Bandai Namco Filmworks (under the Sunrise brand). Designed by Atsushi Saito, the series follows five high school girls who overcome personal challenges as members of the school idol group Liella! Takahiko Kyogoku directed it, while Jukki Hanada wrote the script. From July 11 to October 17, 2021, they aired 12 episodes on NHK Educational TV to gain prominence in the school idol world.
Liella’s leader Kanon, as well as its lyricist and composer, is also part-Spanish at her school due to her grandmother’s influence. It was her idea to form a school idol group named Liella and aim to become Live Superstars at Yuigaoka Private Girls High School. The second-year student of Kanon’s high school is a person with no outstanding characteristics. She loves singing and playing the guitar. However, she is an introvert and struggles with performing in front of others, so she has a very difficult time performing on stage.
Her dad works as a translator, her mom runs a cafe, and her younger sister is a wonderful young woman. She failed the entrance exam for Yuigaoka Girls’ music program because of a lack of stage experience. As a child, she and her younger sister often assisted their mother in the cafe business. As a pet, she kept a Eurasian scops owl named Manmaru. The cafe also featured owl shows.
Love Live! Superstars!! Season 2 Episode 6 Review
The episode title is written in a fun way, and with Kinako popping up, it just makes me smile. Parts of the episode seemed very fast, including the fast gag about Kanon’s bad attitude and the photo call from his dad. Interestingly, Natsumi’s first display of vulnerability frames her between the stair legs. The lack of purpose—or, her devotion to money—is making her feel trapped, even though she is revealing more of herself. This framing implies that she feels trapped either because of her failure or because of her constant pursuit of wealth.
Kanon and Natsumi share a simple scene where a tree separates them. Kanon reveals that the setbacks in her life have led her to where she is now. The tree serves as the visual divide between those who have dreams and those who do not until Kanon reveals that the setbacks in her life have led her to where she is now. Using Kanon’s empathy, she can pass over to Natsumi’s side, past the tree, to unite them.
My overall opinion was that the episode was only okay since Natsumi’s redemption was predictable. I’m not criticizing Superstar for getting Natsumi on their side (we all knew that was coming), but how it was handled. Natsumi now feels the most pressured among the new members. I wish we’d seen her vulnerabilities earlier in the previous episode. Although I am a fan of this show, I feel like I was not exaggerated by the fears of my fellow viewers regarding the new members.
While I like some of the new members, I feel season 2 was rushed and faster than season 1. Although Nigasaki S2 was rushed to some extent, I think Sunshine is trying to go even faster because they have to deal with Love’s live plotlines and similar issues they did not have to deal with in Nijigasaki. Sunshine should be renewed for a third season, and they should not rush this season knowing that they have another to tie things up. The addition of four new characters plus a new rival is taking its toll on the storyline.
