The highly anticipated anime Leviathan from CGI studio ORANGE has just released its first trailer, generating buzz ahead of its Netflix debut in 2025.
The anime takes place in 1914, right before World War I begins. It follows Prince Aleksander, who is fleeing for his life as the heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne.
On his journey, he encounters Deryn Sharp, a commoner disguised as a boy in the British Air Service, while aboard the bioengineered airship HMS Leviathan.
Their unexpected meeting leads to a grand adventure around the world that could change both their lives and the course of history.
The anime is based on the 2009 novel by Scott Westerfeld, which won the Aurealis Award for Best Young Adult Novel and was illustrated by Keith Thompson.
This adaptation is produced by Qubic Pictures, directed by Christophe Ferreira, and features Justin Leach and Daiki Sakurai as executive producers.
Music for the series will be composed by Joe Hisaishi, known for his work on Studio Ghibli films and Ni no Kuni.
