Legion Breaker is now available on Steam, bringing army-building progression, automated defensive battles, and a sprawling spell skill tree to PC players. Released on October 13, 2026, the game comes from UK-based solo developer Alfred Baley, who works under the name Baffled Engineer, with Level Up Gaming serving as publisher.

The game combines the incremental progression of an auto-battler with large-scale battles inspired by strategy games such as Mount & Blade and Total War. Its visual presentation also draws inspiration from Kingdom, pairing a 2D style with increasingly crowded battlefields filled with enemies and allied troops.

Players begin with a novice wizard, one spell, and a single defender. Their objective is to survive increasingly difficult waves of undead forces, gather gold, strengthen their abilities, and recruit soldiers capable of holding the line against the Necromancer King’s army.

As the campaign advances, battles expand in scale and introduce more dangerous enemies. Players must develop their wizard and army together to overcome the growing threats and eventually confront the Necromancer King.

LEGION BREAKER FEATURES A DEEP SPELL AND ARMY PROGRESSION SYSTEM

Progression is central to Legion Breaker. Victories reward players with gold and opportunities to unlock upgrades through a large skill tree. These improvements allow players to develop different spell arsenals, strengthen their troops, and pursue builds suited to their preferred approach to combat.

Army recruitment is equally important. What begins as a lone wizard with limited support gradually develops into a full holy army, with troops fighting alongside the protagonist as the battlefield becomes more chaotic.

Boss encounters provide additional challenges throughout the campaign, testing the strength of the army and the effectiveness of the upgrades players have selected. The long-term objective is to transform the inexperienced wizard into an unstoppable battlemage capable of defeating the Necromancer King.

LEGION BREAKER PRICE AND STEAM LAUNCH DISCOUNT

Legion Breaker launched on Steam for €7.19 in Europe and $6.99 in the United States. The game is also receiving a 20% launch discount during its first two weeks, according to the announcement from Baffled Engineer and Level Up Gaming.

Players can find the game on its official Steam page and watch the launch trailer for a closer look at its battles and progression systems.

Alfred Baley, the UK-based developer behind Baffled Engineer, created Legion Breaker as a solo project. He developed the game in the open, incorporating feedback from players throughout its development.

Although Baley has spent years designing and making games, Legion Breaker marks his first commercially released title. Its combination of incremental upgrades, defensive combat, and army management brings together several strategy elements in a compact 2D format.
