Lee Jung Jae is set to star in ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte,’ slated for release on Disney+ this summer.
Film media Collider reported on the 10th (local time), stating, “Interest in ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ has grown since the first trailer was revealed last year at the Star Wars Celebration in London,” and adding, “This series will be released on Disney+ this summer.”
Set 50 years before ‘Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace,’ ‘The Acolyte’ unfolds the story of a former Jedi Padawan and their once-master investigating sinister crimes in an ever-changing galaxy.
Lee Jung Jae, known for his role in ‘Squid Game,’ joins as a Jedi Master in ‘The Acolyte,’ while Joonas Suotamo joins as a Wookiee Jedi named Kelnaka. Additionally, Jodie Turner-Smith, Manny Jacinto, and Charlie Barnett will appear, with details of their roles shrouded in secrecy.
‘The Acolyte’ is produced as an eight-part series. Producer Leslie Headland described the project as a blend of ‘Frozen’ and ‘Kill Bill.’
