Despite their popularity, LE SSERAFIM, one of the top fourth-generation K-pop girl groups, has been absent from this season’s high school and college festivals in South Korea.
These events, which occur in April and May, typically feature performances from popular groups like IVE, aespa, NMIXX, and NewJeans. Fans are left wondering why LE SSERAFIM hasn’t participated in any of these festivals.
On May 29, a post on Nate Pann, now with over 205,000 views and 1,000 recommendations, speculated on the reasons for their absence.
The post suggested that the group has not attended due to negative public opinion following a controversial performance at Coachella. It claimed that LE SSERAFIM struggles with live singing, a critical skill for festival performances.
Comments on the post revealed further insights. A student council member mentioned that LE SSERAFIM was proposed as a performer at their school but was quickly rejected due to doubts about their live singing abilities.
Another comment pointed to Eunchae’s controversial remark about high school students as a reason for their unpopularity among the student body.
Contrarily, some students stated that they had invited LE SSERAFIM, but the group’s label declined, citing their busy schedule and preparations for an upcoming album.
Some fans believe the group is avoiding festivals to prevent unfavorable comparisons to other idols regarding live performances. Source Music, LE SSERAFIM’s label, confirmed to Xports News that the group is indeed focused on their comeback.
Fans also highlighted that LE SSERAFIM is currently active in Japan, which also contributes to their absence from Korean university festivals.
