Ladies’ Code is amongst those K-pop girl groups that have made history with not only the songs and the awards they have won but also the way they have led their idol life. Ladies’ Code is a five-member girl group that debuted under Polaris Entertainment back in 2013. The members are Ashley, Sojung, Zuny, RiSe, and EunB.
The group debuted on March 7, 2013, with their debut single, ‘Bad Girl.’ They quickly got the love of the audience and had many fans who they named lovingly on April 26, 2013, as ‘Lavely’, which stands as a combination of Ladies and Lovely. The ladies’ Code-fan color is Purple.
Ladies’ Code had been promoting for a year with all their songs and activities and went through a tragic car accident on September 3, 2014, around 01:30 AM KST. When they were returning back from a broadcast to Seoul, the manager sped the car almost double the speed of the speed limit on that road for a solid thirty kilometers.
Moreover, it was raining heavily that night when the car met with an accident in which all five members of the Ladies’ Code were traveling. Even though members Ashley, Sojung, and Zuny suffered from severe injuries in the accident, members RiSe and EunB could not make it to see the light of day.
EunB passed the same night, and RiSe, along with the other members, was rushed to the hospital. However, she passed away four days later on September 7. The group is currently on an indefinite hiatus and has exited Polaris Entertainment.
Members
Ashley
Choi Bina, or Ashley, is the Leader, Main Dancer, and Lead Vocalist of Ladies’ Code. She was born on November 9, 1991, in Incheon in South Korea. However, she soon moved to New York, USA. She went to Incheon Seomyeon Elementary School, from where she transferred to P.S. 107 Tomas A.
Dooley and graduated. She also went to I.S.25Q. Adrien Block School and Benjamin N. Cardozo High School, which she graduated from, and went to Hunter University, which she dropped out from.
Ashley has nicknames like Global Code and Sexy Code. She is fluent in English, Korean and also speaks Spanish and Japanese. Before debuting as an idol, she would post dance covers of K-pop songs under the name ashleych0i on YouTube. Ashley has also been a former trainee at Cube Ent.
Right after the car accident, she was taken to the hospital and was discharged on October 29, 2014. She played the piano and debuted as a soloist on July 17, 2018, with her song ‘Here We Are.’ Currently, she is working as an RJ at radio Arirang K and also hosts a podcast called ‘Get Real’ at Dive Studios.
Sojung
Lee Sojung, or Sojung, is the Main Vocalist of Ladies’ Code. She was born on September 3, 1993, in Wonju in South Korea. She went to Myeongryun Elementary School, Sangji Girls’ Middle School, Bukwon Girls’ High School, and Dankook University to study in the Music Department and graduated from all of them. She is an only child to her parents, and her nickname is Funky Code.
Sojung has been a contestant on the first season of ‘The Voice of Korea.’ In 2016 she was also a part of ‘King of Masked Singers.’ Sojung is the only one among all members who know to drive and has a driving license. She was moved to a hospital in Wonju for her treatment after the car accident. Sojung debuted as a soloist on May 4, 2017, with her song ‘Better Than Me.’

Zuny
Kim Joomi, or Zuny is the Main Rapper, Vocalist, and Maknae of the girl group Ladies’ Code. She was born on December 8, 1994, in Gwangju in South Korea.
She went to Songjeong-dong Elementary School, Songjeong Middle School, and Sejong High School and graduated from all of them.
Zuny has a nickname which is Pretty Chic Code. She has previously been a trainee at BigHit Entertainment. She has taken lessons in dance and music at JOY Dance and Plug-In Music Academy.
She is also a successful actress in the Korean Film Industry and has acted in several dramas. When her contract with Polaris Entertainment expired on February 17, 2020, she decided not to renew it and left the company, is currently being managed by Actorsaid Entertainment since March 23, 2021.
RiSe
Kwon Risae, or RiSe, was the Main Dancer, Vocalist, Visual, and the Face of the Group of Ladies’ Code. She was born on August 16, 1991, in Fukushima in Japan. She went to Fukushima Chosun Elementary and Intermediate School, Tokyo Korean School High School, and Seikei University and studied at the Department of Economic Management, and graduated.
RiSe’s nickname is Pure Code. She could speak Korean and Japanese. She was formerly with KeyEast Entertainment before she moved to Polaris Entertainment.
She also won the Miss Korea competition in 2009. RiSe was a third-generation Korean resident living in Japan. RiSe’s condition deteriorated quickly after the accident at the hospital, and she passed away four days on September 7 after the accident took place.
EunB
Go Eunbi, or EunBi, was the Lead Rapper and Vocalist of Ladies’ Code. She was born on November 23, 1992, in Seoul in South Korea. She went to Dongdong Elementary School, Munjeong Middle School, and Hanlim Entertainment and Arts High School and graduated from all of them.
EunB has nicknames which are Lovely Code and EunVitamin. She had previously trained with the AOA members. EunB passed away the same day (September 3, 2014) when the accident took place.

Debut
Ladies’ Code debuted on March 7, 2013, under Polaris Entertainment with their debut EP Code#01 Bad Girl as a five-member group. After the car accident, the group went on a hiatus.
However, they made a comeback with their second single album Myst3ry and the title track Galaxy, on February 24, 2016. Their latest comeback was an EP titled Code#03 Set Me Free, released on October 10, 2019. The group is currently on an indefinite hiatus.
Songs and Albums
Ladies’ Code has released many songs that have been loved by audiences in Korea as well as abroad. Their debut song was ‘Bad Girl,’ which was a huge success. So far, Ladies’ Code has released four EPs, two single albums, eleven singles, and twelve music videos.
Ladies’ Code’s single album Kiss Kiss which was released on August 7, 2014, peaked at #4 in South Korea, making it one of the biggest hits by the girls. Kiss Kiss was also the last project the group worked on as a five-member group. About a month after the release of Kiss Kiss, the girls were in a tragic accident in which they lost two members.
After which, the girls made a comeback on February 24, 2016, with another EP titled Myst3ry, which was the beginning of their ‘Healing Trilogy.’ On October 13, 2016, they released part two of the trilogy, which was an EP titled Strang3r. On their fifth anniversary, March 7, 2018, they held a fanmeet with the title CODE#R3BORN as part three of the trilogy. The girls released an EP called Code#03 Set Me Free on October 10, 2019.
