LABOUM is a girl’s group that debuted in August 2014 under Global H, which was a by-product of NH Media and Nega Networks joining hands. The group is currently being managed by Interpark Music Plus. At the time of its debut, it was a group of six members, namely; Soyeon, ZN (Jinyea), Haein, Solbin, Yujeong, and Yulhee. Yujeong and Yulhee left the group later.
The meaning of the group’s name is derived from French, which means ‘The Party’. The girls of Laboum have released a number of singles, EPs, and the like. They have also filmed a few music videos and appeared in dramas as well as reality TV shows in South Korea.
Laboum has won many awards, including the Rising Star, K-Pop Star, and Best Girl Group awards in the years 2018 and 2021. They have also been nominated for various other awards like Popularity Award, Bonsang Award, New Artist Award, Hallyu Special Award, and the like.
Laboum has released two full-length studio albums named Love Pop Wow and Two of Us, three extended plays (EPs) Love Sign, Miss This Kiss, and Blossom. They have also released multiple single albums like Petit Macaron, Sugar Sugar, Aalow Aalow, Fresh Adventure, Between Us, and I’m Yours. In November 2018, Laboum also made its Japanese debut by releasing a Japanese version of its song, ‘Hwi-Hwi’.

Soyeon
Jung Soyeon or Soyeon is the Main Vocalist of Laboum; she was born on May 4, 1994, in Gwangju, Jeolla-do, in South Korea. She is the eldest member in the current line-up. She has graduated from Mudeung Elementary School, Gwangju Culture Middle School, and Salesio Girls’ High School. Her nicknames are Yeoni and Olaf (from Frozen).
Soyeon has written, composed as well as arranged the Laboum song called ‘Between Us. She is best friends with Miss A’s Suzy. Soyeon has sung many OSTs in her K-pop career so far. Some of them are; ‘Love is Cold’ for Sweet Home, Sweet Honey, ‘Cosmic Girl’ for Jugglers, ‘I Feel Love’ for Hospital Ship, and many more. She was also part of King of Masked Singer, and her stage name was Spring Rain.
Jinyea/ZN
Bae Jinyea or Jinyea (formerly known as ZN) is the Main Dancer, Vocalist, and Rapper of the girl group Laboum. She was born on June 9, 1994, in Bucheon, Gyeonggi-do, in South Korea. She is currently the second oldest member of the group. She has graduated from Goriul Elementary School, Bucheon Seonggok Middle School, and Wonjong High School.
Jinyea’s nickname is Janggu. She also played the role of a female protagonist in the web drama, ‘Milky Love.’ She was a participant in the survival show ‘The Unit,’ in which she ranked #8.
On May 18, 2018, she also debuted in another K-pop girl group called ‘UNI.T’; however, the group disbanded a few months after debut, and she did not take part in the last few promos of the group as they overlapped with Laboum’s activities.

Haein
Yeom Haein, or Haein, is the Lead Dancer, Vocalist, and Rapper in the group. She was born on May 19, 1995, in Ojeonggu, Bucheon, South Korea. She has graduated from Solmoe Middle School and Justice Girls’ High School. She has two nicknames; Yeomggi and Haetdong.
Haein was also a part of the survival show ‘The Unit’ with Jinyea, and she placed on rank 26. She also participated in GIRL’S RE: VERSE and stood on the 11th rank. She has acted in the drama, ‘Gangnam Scandal’.
Solving
Ahn Solbin, or Solbin, is the Lead Vocalist, Rapper, Visual, and Maknae of the group Laboum. She was born on August 19, 1997, in Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do, in South Korea. She is the youngest of the lot. She has graduated from Seongnam Girls’ Middle School, Hanlim Entertainment and Arts High School (in Practical Music), and Seoul National University of Arts.
She has nicknames like Solbinnie and Solbean. She was part of a reality TV show called ‘Her Secret Weapon.’ She is also a model for the Japanese denim brand called ‘Evisu.’
She is the one among the girls who are good at impersonating. She was the ‘Flower Fairy’ on ‘King of the Masked Singer.’ She has written, composed, and even arranged Laboum’s song Heal Song. She has also acted in dramas like Meloholic, Solomon’s Perjury, Good Witch, and many more.
Former Members
Yujeong
Kim Yujeong, or Yujeong, was the former Leader, Lead Vocalist and Rapper. She was born on February 14, 1992, in Seoul, South Korea. She was also the oldest member of the group while she was a part of it.
She has graduated from Seoul Samneung Elementary School, Seoul Kyungsoo Middle School, Dongguk University Women’s High School, and Myongji University Institute of Social Education.
She had made an appearance on ‘Hidden Singer’ before she made a debut and has sung an OST with Soyeon called ‘Don’t Disappear.’ Additionally, Yujeong was also a part of the survival show The Unit, and she ranked 20th.
September 8, 2021, Yujeong exited the group; however, two years later, on November 26, 2022, she announced to be a part of Soyeon’s solo fanmeet, which made the fans wonder if she has rejoined the group. No official statements from the company have been revealed.
Yulhee
Kim Yulhee, or Yulhee, was the former Main Dancer, Main Rapper, Vocalist, and Maknae of Laboum. She was born on November 27, 1997, in Bucheon, Gyeonggi-do, in South Korea. She has graduated from Goriul Elementary School and Sousu Middle School and has dropped out of Suju High School.
She has two nicknames: Yuls and Kim Mojji. She has appeared in two music videos of U-KISS, which are Standing Still and Inside of Me. She was dating Ft. Island’s Minhwan in September 2017, and soon, in November, she exited the group and focused on her personal life.

Debut
NH Media and Nega Network had announced about debuting Labom, the members of which have been training for four years. It was initially said LABOUM would be a sister group to U-KISS and Brown Eyed Girls. On August 28, 2014, the girls made their debut with Petit Macaron, their debut single album.
November 3, 2017, NH Media announced that Yulhee would be departing from the group, and her contract with the company was terminated. On November 7, 2018, the five girls released their Japanese single ‘Hwi-Hwi.’
September 8, 2021, Yujeong took to social media with her handwritten letter to her fans about departing from the group as her contract had expired and she had decided not to continue it.
At the same time, the rest of the members have departed Global H and are brought signed under Interpark Music Plus to continue as LABOUM. As of now, the girls are looking for a company and are on an indefinite hiatus, and are focusing on their individual work and life.
Songs and Albums
Petit Macaron (2014) was their first debut single album containing six tracks: Pit-A-Pat, La li:lalala, What about You, and the next three were their instrumental tracks, respectively. Sugar Sugar (2015) was their next single album which was a slumber party theme concept with six tracks: Sugar Sugar, R U Kiddin’ Me, Fantasy, and the next three were their instrumentals.
In December 2015, the group released another single album titled Aalow Aalow with five tracks, namely; Intro, Aalow Aalow, Tasty, and the next two tracks were instrumentals to the aforementioned tracks.
LABOUM has a plethora of songs in their chest of music that they have shared with the world all through the time they worked as a group. Their latest comeback has been Blossom, an EP which was released on November 3, 2021. The tracks on the EP are Kiss Kiss, How I Wish, Repeat, Love on You, and the final track is the instrumental for Kiss Kiss.
