Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery Ending needs an explanation and we are here for the same. Daniel Craig really outdid himself in this other detective film franchise and with the second movie just releasing on Netflix, it was yet another curious mystery that we were hoping to see him solve. He does the role of Benoit Blanc, a detective who has solved some of the toughest cases in the world.
Now, the movie actually begins with a bunch of characters who get a parcel from Miles Bron, a technology billionaire and co-founder of Alpha. He wants to host a murder mystery game at his mansion which is located on a private island in Greece. Turns out that Benoit Blanc, also shows up at this little reunion but Miles actually never invited him. Benoit convinces Miles that there is surely someone trying to kill him for real because whoever sent that invitation to him, wanted him to be present while the murder happens.
Now, we see Andi and everyone is shocked that she was invited in the first place. They were together in the group but Miles actually kicked her out as the co-founder of Alpha when all along she was the real brains behind it all. Everyone is shocked but they still try to be around her. Later, upon reaching the island, we see a tour of the Glass Onion, Miles’ mansion that he had invited his friends and Andi to.
Knives Out: A Glass Onion Mystery – Plot
Now, we see Benoit noticing the ulterior details that hide beneath everyone in this group. They are all dependent on Miles for their growth and success and money. Also, before they sit down for dinner, Miles shows the original Mona Lisa painting in his hall which he has borrowed from the Louvre. Other than that, the Alpha is also going to launch a product called ‘Klear’ which gives out insane amounts of energy for a very small quantity. Although, Lionel, the head scientist at the company, and Claire, the governor, disagree with him because Klear can be very fatal to mankind if not used properly.
While they are at dinner, Miles had arranged a pretend mystery for the group to solve over the weekend using their skills. Although, Benoit just takes a second to uncover all of that. After dinner, Andi leaves the room after having a fight with Duke. As Miles enters the room later, we see that he uplifts everyone’s spirits and raises a toast.
Although, as Duke accidentally drinks from Miles’ glass, he dies. The entire group starts suspecting Andi because they are not on good terms. Miles also gets anxious because he starts thinking someone wants to kill him. Soon, the lights go out from the entire Glass Onion as Miles had originally planned for his pretend myste
During this period, everyone starts running. We see Andi and Benoit talking with each on the steps when someone shoots Andi from behind the walls and she dies. The lights later turn on and the group sees another dead body. Well, this was just the first part, and here is the explanation.
Knives Out: A Glass Onion Mystery Ending Explained
Turns out that the real Andi had already died and her family was holding off the information from the media. The Andi who came to the island was just her twin sister. However, she did not get killed because the bullet was stopped by Andi’s diary. Helen, her sister, hired Benoit and asked him to come after finding the invitation. They were to investigate Andi’s supposed suicide.
Turns out that Miles was behind all of that. The legal fight between Andi and Miles was based on a napkin from the bar they used to hang out at on which she wrote her ideas for Alpha. Andi could not present it at the court and thus, Miles won the company. Later, Andi actually found the original napkin with the stamp of the bar that Miles can not produce.
Angered, he killed off Andi. Duke, who was also going to Andi’s house at that time, saw Miles’ car returning and now blackmailed Miles in order to become a reporter on Alpha News. Miles kills him off as well by using his pineapple allergy as an excuse and mixing it in his drink and “accidentally” handing it to Duke.
In the end, Helen gets angry as Miles burns off the original napkin. Thus, she torches the piece of Klear and burns the whole Glass Onion. In the process, even the Mona Lisa is destroyed. As for the entire group, they agree to testify against him because he has nothing against them now with his whole reputation destroyed after burning the world’s most famous and valuable painting.
