Kitazawa-Kun Wa A Class is a romantic slice-of-life anime set in high school, written by Tsukasa Monma and illustrated by Tanuki Yomeno. The story is about Kitazawa, a high school boy who was bullied a lot because of his chubby appearance. After Kitazawa is rejected by his crush, he begins working out and gets lean before entering high school. In the previous chapter of Kitazawa-Kun Wa A Class, Kitazawa and Eguchi have a heart-to-heart, and Eguchi reveals some things about the girl he used to like. Eguchi liked a girl who used to play tennis, so he enrolled in the tennis academy and began playing as well. Eguchi was aiming for nationals so that Kurumi would notice him, but his plans fall apart when Eguchi gets injured and has to quit playing tennis. Eguchi feels like Kurumi is a free bird, and he has no way to actually reach out to her.

Kitazawa feels moved after listening to Eguchi’s story and realizes that the seemingly frivolous Eguchi also has his own struggles in love. Eguchi’s friends, who had been listening to the conversation, slap him and tell him that his thinking is nonsensical and he can very well confess to Kurumi. Eguchi hesitates and tells them that she is leaving for the States soon, but his friends are not easily deterred. They tell Eguchi to grow a spine and confess to Kurumi even if she’s leaving.

Eguchi’s friend surprises him by driving him to the airport right before Kurumi has to board her flight. They reach the airport, and Eguchi tries to rush to Kurumi’s side, but his previous injury in his leg stops him. Kitazawa, who also appears at the airport to cheer for Eguchi, helps him on his back and carries him to where Kurumi is standing. Eguchi finally tells Kurumi about how he really feels, and his friends get extremely excited, pulling him to them to congratulate him. Meanwhile, Kurumi starts misinterpreting the scene.
