Recap and Review of Kidnapped Bride Chapter 44

The latest chapter starts with Lucina receiving some harmful candles that contain the leftovers of dark magic. Hakkan and Lucina both seem tensed as to who could have done such a crime. Neither Hakkan nor Lucian has seen such a spell in all of Tyar and Breon. Hakkan, being a responsible husband, pledges to find the guilty and gives him justice.

Lucina is anxious, which also worries Hakkan; he tells her to be calm and everything will be fine. Hakkan knows any dark magic user will have his body corrupted and will fall sick. Recently, they have a suspicious person who is Gelai.

But she does not want to believe that he is capable of such things as he always takes care of her. Lucina even tries to justify his health sickness as his childhood problems. Later, we see Gelai talking to his sister, refusing to use dark magic anymore as it puts too much pressure on his body.

His sister gives him a cold demeanor and objects he is making excuses because of Lucina and does not want to harm her. As we see a little humanity in him, his sister is completely devoid of such empathy. She strives to force him out of his will and threatens him every time he refuses to follow her orders.

In the next scene, Hakkan takes Lucina out of the house, and she sees a little scar on his face. She tries to heal him but is unable to do so due to her pregnancy. She needs to sustain her power to protect herself from the fire energy that her child will have. A shaman, later, comes to examine Lucina, congratulating her, saying she is carrying the child of the dragon.

It quickly lights up the mood of Hakkan, and he decides to give Lucina a gift for carrying his baby. She tells him that she only wants to have a small meal with him, but Hakkan is a conqueror; he wants to bring his wife anything she desires, and her small request does not please his satisfaction as he wants to give her more.

Lucina grows becomes concerned about Hakkan’s well-being as he frequently goes to war and returns injured. But since her pregnancy, she will be unable to use magic to heal him. Also, the little fairy Poka suggests if she is worrying too much about Hakkan, then she can just look for a healer from another nation. Hearing this, Lucina becomes excited, and the chapter ends there.
