On Wednesday, March 20, 2024, fans of the action-packed anime “Kengan Ashura” were treated to exciting news as the official website for the series revealed a teaser trailer confirming the premiere of season 2 part 2 in August 2024.
Accompanying this announcement was an amazing new key visual showcasing several formidable combatants from the Kengan Annihilation Tournament, the central focus of the series.
In addition to revealing the premiere date, the official website also disclosed that “Kengan Ashura” season 2 part 2 would serve as the end to the original story, culminating in the epic finals of the Kengan Annihilation Tournament.
While fans may be eager for more, it remains uncertain whether Netflix intends to adapt the sequel series, “Kengan Omega,” into an anime.
“Kengan Ashura” originally stems from the creative minds of author Yabako Sandrovich and illustrator Daromeon, whose original manga series enjoyed a successful run in Shogakukan’s Ura Sunday and MangaONE magazines from April 2012 to August 2018. The gripping narrative and intense battles captured the hearts of fans worldwide.
Following the end of “Kengan Ashura,” the sequel series, “Kengan Omega,” debuted in the same publications in January 2019, continuing the saga with new characters and challenges.
As “Kengan Ashura” season 2 part 2 draws closer to its premiere, fans eagerly anticipate the thrilling end to this beloved anime adaptation, while remaining hopeful for future adaptations of the ongoing sequel series.
Kengan Ashura Season 2 Part 2 Premieres on Netflix
As previously mentioned, fans can anticipate the eagerly awaited premiere of “Kengan Ashura” season 2 part 2 on Netflix in August 2024, with the streaming platform expected to exclusively showcase the series’ final installment worldwide.
While a specific release date within the month of August has not been disclosed in the latest announcement, fans can expect further details to be revealed in the coming months. Notably, the metal band SiM will be performing the new opening theme song for the series, titled “RED.”
The first part of the second season made its debut on Netflix in September 2023, following an early screening at TOHO Cinemas Roppongi Hills in Tokyo earlier that same month.
“Kengan Ashura” initially premiered worldwide on Netflix in July 2019, with the first season’s second part following suit in July 2019. Each part consisted of 12 episodes, resulting in a total of 24 episodes for the first season.
The anime had its world premiere one year earlier at Anime Expo in July 2018, marking the culmination of a fan voting contest in 2015, in which Yabako Sandrovich’s manga series emerged victorious.
Directed by Seiji Kishi at Larx Entertainment, with a series composition by Makoto Uezu, “Kengan Ashura” features character designs by Kazuaki Morita and music composition by Yasuharu Takanashi of Team-MAX.
Set in a world where businesses and merchants settle disputes through unarmed hand-to-hand combat matches, known as Kengan competitions, the manga’s narrative revolves around protagonist Oma Tokita, also known as Ashura.
Representing the Nogi Group, Tokita navigates the high-stakes Kengan matches under the leadership of Hideki Nogi, the group’s enigmatic president.
