Kemono Jihen Manga Goes on Hiatus After Creator Shō Aimoto’s Brother Dies

Shō Aimoto has announced a temporary break for Kemono Jihen after the death of her brother, with the supernatural manga currently expected to return in October.

Kemono Jihen will temporarily pause publication after creator Shō Aimoto announced the death of her brother. Aimoto shared that her brother passed away peacefully on August 15, prompting the manga to take a break from the upcoming issue of Shueisha’s Jump SQ.

Kemono Jihen will be absent from the October issue, which goes on sale September 4. The series is currently scheduled to return in the November issue on October 2.

The hiatus comes as the long-running manga nears its conclusion. The 25th compiled volume, released in Japan on August 4, revealed that the series will end with its next volume.

Aimoto launched Kemono Jihen in Jump SQ. in December 2016, and the manga later inspired a television anime adaptation. The story follows occult detective Inugami and the mysterious Kabane as they investigate supernatural incidents involving humans and kemono. Seven Seas Entertainment

Fans can expect the manga’s break to last one issue before its planned October return.
