Kaiju No. 8 season 2 teaser trailer and plot details

The Kaiju No. 8 RED STAGE at Anime Japan 2025 featured Masaya Fukunishi (Kafka Hibino), Wataru Katou (Reno Ichikawa), Kengo Kawanishi (Soushirou Hoshino), and Kouki Uchiyama (Gen Narumi). During the stage event, the first teaser trailer for Kaiju No. 8 season 2 was introduced, setting the tone for the next chapter in Kafka’s story.
The teaser opens with Kafka Hibino recovering in a hospital following a confrontation with Isao Shinomiya. Reno Ichikawa expresses confidence in Kafka’s recovery, despite his weakened state. Meanwhile, Isao Shinomiya begins assembling the Defense Force’s most formidable division, placing Gen Narumi at the helm.
Gen Narumi, known for his carefree attitude and obsession with video games, presents a stark contrast to Mina Ashiro’s disciplined leadership. Kikoru Shinomiya, transferred to the First Division, struggles to understand his seemingly relaxed nature. However, Gen’s strength is evident beneath his laid-back demeanor.
“I don’t care about your manners, appearance, diligence, or grace. There’s only one thing I ask. Prove your overwhelming strength,” Gen says in the trailer.
The teaser confirms that Kafka Hibino and Kikoru Shinomiya will be transferred to the First Division under Gen Narumi’s command. The final moments of the trailer hint at Gen’s true strength as he leads his squad into battle against kaiju. His tactical brilliance and combat expertise become clear as the scene unfolds.

The anime also introduced stills from the “Hoshina’s Day Off” special episode, which will release alongside Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon on March 28, 2025. The stills feature the Third Division members following Vice-Captain Soushirou Hoshina during a rare day off. The relaxed atmosphere offers insight into the team’s dynamic outside of combat.
Additionally, the anime announced new merchandise inspired by “Hoshina’s Day Off.” The items include character-themed accessories and collectibles, expanding the series’ presence beyond the anime.
