The Kaiju No. 8 anime shared a new key visual showcasing the titular Kaiju No. 8, with Production I.G handling animation and Studio Khara overseeing creature designs. Scheduled to premiere on April 13, the series previously released visuals for Kafka and Mina.
In the Kaiju No. 8 anime, Masaya Fukunishi voices Kafka Hibino/Kaiju No. 8, alongside Wataru Kato as Reno Ichikawa, and Asami Seto as Mina Ashiro.
The series will stream on X (formerly Twitter) and Crunchyroll. A recent trailer premiered last month, featuring the opening theme by ONE REPUBLIC.
Naoya Matsumoto’s Kaiju No. 8 manga started its serialization journey in July 2020 on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+. With its popularity soaring, the series has been compiled into 11 volumes as of December 2023. In North America, Viz Media secured the English licensing rights for the manga.
The Kaiju No. 8 anime has two directors, Shigeyuki Miya and Tomomi Kamiya. Ichiro Okouchi is in charge of the series composition and screenplay.
Tetsuya Nishio is the character designer and chief animation director, while Mahiro Maeda handles the design of the kaiju.
Shinji Kimura works as the art director, and Izumi Hirose is responsible for the color design. Masaru Matsumoto oversees the 3DCG, Eiji Arai is the photography director, and Fumiyuki Go serves as the sound director. Yuta Bando provides the music.
In the Kaiju No. 8 anime, Masaya Fukunishi voices Kafka Hibino/Kaiju No. 8, while Wataru Kato lends his voice to Reno Ichikawa.
Asami Seto portrays Mina Ashiro, and Ai Fairouz brings Kikoru Shinomiya to life. Additionally, Kengo Kawanishi voices Soshiro Hoshina, with Yuki Shin as Iharu Furuhashi (NEW), Keisuke Komoto as Haruichi Izumo (NEW), and Shunsuke Takeuchi as Aoi Kaguragi (NEW).
Kentaro Hidano’s spin-off manga, titled Kaiju No.8: B-Side, started serialization on Shonen Jump+ on January 5, 2024. This manga focuses on the side stories of various Defense Force members from the main series.
On November 4, 2022, a four-chapter side-story light novel, written by Keiji Ando and illustrated by Matsumoto himself, was released.

About Kaiju No. 8
Kafka dreams of fulfilling a childhood promise to his friend Mina, aiming to join the Japan Defense Force and fight alongside her.
However, while Mina rises to the rank of Third Division captain, Kafka finds himself cleaning up after her battles with kaiju.
When a rule adjustment finally opens a path for Kafka to join the Defense Force, he eagerly seizes the opportunity.
Yet, a significant obstacle stands in his way Kafka himself is listed as Kaiju No. 8, marked for neutralization by the Defense Force.
