Kadokawa unveiled the main staff on Friday for the upcoming television anime adaptation of Sarasa Nagase’s novel series, “The Do-Over Damsel Conquers the Dragon Emperor” (Yarinaoshi Reijō wa Ryūtei Heika o Kōryaku-chū). Alongside this announcement, Kadokawa also shared a visual for the series.
Kentarō Suzuki, known for works such as “Requiem of the Rose King” and “Angels of Death,” will be directing the anime at J.C. Staff. Atsuo Ishino, scriptwriter for “Chihayafuru 2” and “A Certain Scientific Railgun T,” is in charge of overseeing the series scripts.
The character designs for the anime are crafted by Sana Komatsu, who previously worked on “The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 3.”
The anime is set to premiere later this year, and Kadokawa also revealed a celebratory illustration for the series from the original character designer, Mitsuya Fuji.
Cross Infinite World is bringing the English version of the novels to readers and provides the following overview of the story:
Jill faces a death sentence from the crown prince, her betrothed. However, just before her execution, she is thrust back in time by six years to the very party where their engagement was first announced.
Determined to alter her fate, Jill hastily proposes to the person standing behind her—only to discover that it is none other than Emperor Hadis, her arch-nemesis! Knowing of his future turn to villainy, Jill quickly retracts her proposal.
To her surprise, Hadis, delighted by the proposition, takes her to his castle and prepares a meal. Won over by the delicious food, Jill resolves to make a significant decision: “I’m going to reform—no, I’m going to make you happy!” It’s time for a second chance at life with her former enemy!
Nagase initiated the serialization of the narrative on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in November 2019, and the series is currently ongoing. Kadokawa commenced the print publication of the series, featuring illustrations by Mitsuya Fuji, in March 2020.
Anko Yuzu created a manga adaptation of the novels, which premiered in Kadokawa’s Comp Ace magazine in July 2020. Yen Press is responsible for the English release of the manga, titled “The Second-Chance Noble Daughter Sets Out to Conquer the Dragon Emperor.”
