In chapter 236 of Jujutsu Kaisen, fans got to see the most awaited moment, a battle between Gojo and Sukuna, but who knew that this battle would leave the fans in more shock? The story suddenly took an unexpected turn after the moments of victory were claimed by Gojo in the fight against Sukuna.
Gojo Satoru is one of the beloved, fan-favorite, and popular characters of the Jujutsu Kaisen series. Gojo had claimed victory on the battlefield against Sukuna until there was a twist in the story by the author, which completely flips the ongoing script, which is followed by Gojo getting killed by Sukuna.
It seems that Sukuna came up with an unexpected strategy through which he killed Gojo and took the victory title of the battle, which left the fans in shock. Though it was clearly witnessed by the viewers that Gojo is dead due to some signs that were noticed, it gives hope of change for his return to the series.
How did Gojo die?
The viewers’ most awaited battle took place between Gojo and Sukuna. This was an extended battle between them. Also, this battle seems to be one of the best of the kind of battles that have taken place in the Jujutsu Kaisen series and the most anticipated one as well.
It was a battle of The Strongest Sorcerer Of Modern Times v/s The Strongest Sorcerer In History, which was also the cause for the hype for the battle among the fans. Throughout the battle, a great fight was put up by Gojo, where he used all his best techniques and powers like a genius against Sukuna.
Firstly, the way Mahoraga got rid of the infinity was not the actual model Sukuna wanted. Hence, later, Sukuna adapted to infinity in order to change the nature of its cursed energy to bypass the infinity.
Secondly, Sukuna could not replicate this, so eventually, he waited for another model. After a while, Mahoraga got more evolved in the fight and used a Slash-based attack cut technique, and it cut off the space between Gojo and him, including the infinity.
Sukuna was promptly looking for this opportunity. It was impossible to pull off this Technique, though, but Sukuna was successful in doing it. By shifting its target from Gojo to the entire world, he eventually sliced through the Infinity and affected Gojo with cut-ups as well.
Chances for the revival of Gojo.
The death of their beloved character was undoubtedly a shock for the fans, but in this moment of shock, something suspicious was also noticed by them. The moment Gojo was lying on a thin line between being alive and dead, he was witnessed having a conversation with his friends.
During his last moments when he was in limbo, he meets Suguru. Gojo talked out what he felt while fighting against Sukuna and also that he felt sad for him as he was at the top but alone, unaware of what love was. Gojo also mentions that he was willing to connect with him through the combat, but he feels that he has failed in doing so. He wished that Suguru would have been there to cheer him on during the battle.
A revelation of the concept of North and South was done by Nanami during the last moments of Gojo. She reveals to Gojo the knowledge of this concept shared by Mei. One, after passing, can choose either of these directions. South means staying the same and true to their roots. At the same time, north means seeing a new version of themselves.
This revelation gives hope to the fans that Gojo must have chosen the north side, and there are possibilities of him seeking his new version and having a potential rebirth. Gojo also had his Reverse Cursed Technique, which returned him from Black Flashes in succession.
In order to achieve his revival by going north, Gojo will also have to make a sufficient sacrifice. His Cursed Technique might be the sacrifice in exchange for his rebirth. Sukuna’s attack was lethal, but Gojo’s reverse curse technique is also filled out. The attack was very powerful, but still, there are chances that Gojo still must be able to heal even though they slowly.
A new technique, “White,” was also witnessed being developed by Gojo. It has been seen in the Jujutsu Kaisen covers Gojo has a weird whitish glow in his hand, and Akutami consistently has drawn it over the years. This could also be a kind of power or Technique that brings him into the series.
