In Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 261, spoilers reveal that the mysterious identity of the person who appeared as Satoru Gojo is actually Yuta Okkotsu. Yuta used Rika to consume Kenjaku’s body, thereby acquiring the ancient sorcerer’s body-hopping Cursed Technique.
This technique enabled him to take over Gojo’s body, with the assistance of Arata Nitta and Shoko Ieiri, after Yuta succumbed to a mortal wound inflicted by Sukuna. However, the process comes with a severe limitation: Yuta can only use this technique for five minutes while Rika is fully manifested.
This limitation puts Yuta’s life at significant risk, as he could either die once the five minutes are over or end up living in Gojo’s body permanently. Regardless of the outcome, Yuta’s future looks bleak.
Yuta Okkotsu’s Desperate Gamble
The spoilers explore Yuta Okkotsu’s precarious situation in chapter 261. It is revealed that the figure who appeared as Gojo was actually Yuta in Gojo’s body. Yuta used Kenjaku’s Cursed Technique to take over his deceased teacher’s body to fight against Sukuna.
This was made possible after Rika devoured Kenjaku’s body to copy his body-hopping technique. Yuta had planned to take over Gojo’s body in case he died fighting Sukuna. Despite opposition from others, Yuta argued that it was necessary to cast away their humanity to defeat Sukuna.
Yuta’s plan, however, is fraught with complications. According to the spoilers, Yuta can only use the copied technique while Rika is active or fully manifested, and it lasts for only five minutes. This raises the question of what will happen to Yuta once those five minutes are up. Mei Mei outlines three possible scenarios. First, if Kenjaku’s Cursed Technique requires constant activation,
Whether Yuta Doomed Himself with an Unthinkable Action?
Yuta won’t be able to maintain the balance between the body and the soul after the five minutes, resulting in his death. Secondly, if Kenjaku’s ability can be activated intermittently, Yuta might not die immediately, but it would only be a matter of time before he does.
The third possibility, according to Mei Mei, is the most ominous for Yuta. If Kenjaku’s body-hopping ability only needs to be activated once, Yuta could continue to demonstrate the Limitless technique even after five minutes. However, this would mean that Yuta’s original body would be disposed of, and he would forever remain inside Satoru Gojo’s body.
These assumptions are revealed in a flashback involving Mei Mei. The spoilers further disclose that Yuta suffered a mortal wound against Sukuna, leaving his original body beyond repair.
Consequently, proceeding with the gruesome plan of taking over Gojo’s body was his only option. Yuta suffered a similar fatal injury as Gojo, which had vertically sliced him in half. Had Yuta not gone ahead with his plan, he would have faced the same fate as his teacher.
Despite the grim situation, there is a faint hope for Yuta to survive. However, considering the state of his original body, which is beyond repair even with his Reverse Cursed Technique, it seems unlikely that he can return to his original form. The most optimistic outcome would be for Yuta to live within Gojo’s body permanently, assuming Mei Mei’s third scenario comes true.
Yuta Okkotsu’s fate appears to be sealed in Jujutsu Kaisen. Even if he hadn’t taken over Gojo’s body, he would have died from his injuries. While there remains a slim chance for Yuta to survive, his original body is in such a dire condition that he may have to live as Satoru Gojo forever.
However, the likelihood of his death is higher, especially given the current narrative direction. The ultimate direction that Gege Akutami will take with Yuta Okkotsu in Jujutsu Kaisen remains uncertain, but the outlook for Yuta is undoubtedly grim.
