Cincinnati Bengals’ running back, Joe Mixon, seems unfazed by speculation about a potential departure this offseason. Addressing rumors, Mixon points out that he wasn’t traded or released last year despite similar speculation.
Pro Football Network recently reported a likelihood that the Bengals might part ways with Mixon, who currently carries an $8.85 million cap hit for 2024. Mixon had agreed to a pay cut last July to remain with Cincinnati, the team that drafted him in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
Mixon’s agent, Peter Schaffer, emphasized Mixon’s goal of winning a Super Bowl and playing his entire career in Cincinnati, seeing it as the best way to achieve those objectives.
After an impressive 2023 season where he surpassed 1,000 rushing yards for the fourth time in his career, 27-year-old running back Joe Mixon has restructured his deal with the Bengals. Contributing 1,410 all-purpose yards and 12 touchdowns.
Mixon played a key role in the Bengals achieving a winning record for the third consecutive year. Despite the Bengals’ decision not to sign a running back in free agency and draft one only in the fifth round, Mixon remains a significant part of their plans. Additionally, wide receiver Tee Higgins, with an expiring rookie deal, is expected to be franchise-tagged ahead of free agency.
