A match between Joe Gacy and North American Champion Oba Femi on the most recent episode of WWE NXT took an unexpected turn when it was immediately stopped because of worries for Gacy’s safety. Gacy’s head struck the mat hard during the contest following a move made by Femi.
Promptly acting out of genuine concern for Gacy’s safety, the referee made an ‘X’ motion to indicate that medical treatment was needed. Gacy was unable to continue, so the referee decided to end the match in order to protect the wrestler.
After the match, Gacy went up to NXT General Manager Ava and asked to square off against Shawn Spears at NXT Stand & Deliver. His request was approved by Ava, setting the way for the much-anticipated confrontation at the function.
Fightful Select’s Corey Brennan offered commentary on the NXT post-show, stating that the bout stoppage was a preventative step because of concussion policy.
Brennan gave supporters reassurance that Gacy left the ring by himself, which was encouraging. It was verified that Gacy will be prepared to fight at NXT Stand & Deliver despite early reservations.
Although the NXT Stand & Deliver card has been modified, fans can still feel secure in the knowledge that Gacy is well and prepared for the April 6th event.
