Eclipse Glow Games has announced that Jennifer English will no longer voice protagonist Gwendolyn in the upcoming action-adventure game Tides of Annihilation. The studio confirmed that the change comes after English stepped away from the role due to personal health reasons, with a replacement already recording dialogue ahead of the game’s Gamescom 2026 showcase.

While the news marks a significant casting change for one of the year’s most anticipated action titles, the developer emphasized that English remains involved with the project in an advisory capacity.

Jennifer English exits lead role for health reasons

In a statement shared on the studio’s official social media channels, Eclipse Glow Games explained that English informed the team in June that she could no longer continue as Gwendolyn’s English voice actor.

“We have some sad news to share, that Jennifer English will be stepping away from her role as the English voice of Gwendolyn… due to personal health reasons. She will continue to support the project in an advisory role.”

The studio added that it fully respected her decision to prioritize her well-being and thanked her for handling the transition with professionalism and care throughout the process.

According to Eclipse Glow Games, the search for a replacement was carried out with Jennifer English’s support and recommendation, along with input from other members of the voice cast.

“We’ve been fortunate to find an incredibly talented performer to carry Gwendolyn forward.”

Although the studio has not yet revealed the new actor’s identity, it said her recent work in video games impressed both English and the development team because of her dedication to understanding the character. The replacement is already recording dialogue for the hands-on demo that players will experience during Gamescom 2026 in Cologne.

Tides of Annihilation has attracted significant attention since its reveal, thanks to its post-apocalyptic reimagining of England inspired by Arthurian legends. Players take control of Gwendolyn, battling towering enemies while wielding mysterious ancient powers across a ruined version of London.

With English continuing to advise the project and production moving forward, Eclipse Glow Games appears committed to ensuring a smooth transition ahead of the game’s next public showcase.
