The highly anticipated original anime, “Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night,” is gearing up for its North American premiere at Anime Boston 2024.
Ahead of its Japanese TV debut on April 6, the coming-of-age story will have its initial two episodes screened on March 29 at the convention.
The screening is made possible by streaming platform HIDIVE, which also revealed plans to simulcast the anime during the Spring 2024 season.
Anime enthusiasts attending Anime Boston will have the opportunity to get an early glimpse of “Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night” and immerse themselves in the unique narrative crafted by a talented creative team.
Directed by Ryohei Takeshita at studio Doga Kobo, known for works like “Eromanga Sensei,” the anime boasts scripts penned by Yuki Yaku, author of “Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki.”
The character designs adapted for animation are the work of Junichiro Taniguchi, the mind behind “SING ‘YESTERDAY’ FOR ME.”
HIDIVE offers a glimpse into the series with the following description:
“Shibuya is a city full of identity. It is here on Shibuya’s late-night streets that illustrator Mahiru Kozuki, former idol Kano Yamanouchi, Vtuber Kiui Watase, and composer Mei Kim Anouk Takanashi — four young women who are slightly outside the world — join together and form an anonymous artist group called JELEE. ‘I’ also want to shine like someone else. If it’s not me but ‘we,’ then we might be able to shine.”
Anime Boston 2024, scheduled for March 29-31, promises to be a hub for anime enthusiasts to engage with the latest releases and experience the North American premiere of “Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night.”
As anticipation builds for the series, the convention becomes a platform for fans to come together and celebrate the diverse world of anime.
