Imagine a feud. A feud between the living WWE legends “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and “Double J” Jeff Jarrett way back in 1999. Can you? Well, Jeff Jarrett himself recently shared his thoughts on what that feud may have looked like if he had never left WWE.

A man of many talents and multiple ventures, Jeff hosts his very own podcast alongside co-host Conrad Thompson named ‘My World.’ Making it their platform to relive the glory days of their wrestling career, the two have put out over a hundred episodes through their podcast, giving wrestling enthusiasts insider information right from the source, the ones who lived and breathed through the stuff they used to watch on TV.

Stone Cold Steve Austin And Jeff
Also having attained the honor of being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, Stone Cold Steve Austin is a retired professional wrestler who started under World Championship Wrestling as “Stunning” Steve Austin but later switched to WWF and found tremendous fame there as “Stone Cold” Steve Austin during the Attitude Era.
Known even to non-wrestling enthusiasts and sports fans, Steve Austin is most famed for being part of what was arguably the best feud in WWE history. The Stone Cold Steve Austin versus WWF Chairman Vince McMahon feud was and is one of the most popular and entertaining of them all.

Both Jeff and Steve were essential to the success of WWE, but, sad to say, and they share quite a sour relationship. Coupled with a few disagreements and verbal altercations, the heat between Jeff and Steve made it impossible for Steve to agree to work with Jeff. Steve refused a feud with Jeff through and through, so fans can now only imagine what it may have looked like.

Jeff’s Response To Steve Austin Feud Fan Query
In its 108th episode, ‘Ask Jeff Anything,’ the ‘My World’ podcast accepted and answered a number of fan queries. One fan query read aloud by Conrad was directed at Jeff Jarrett, asking him how he would have booked a feud with him and Steve Austin back in 1999.
Conrad immediately points out that it is an interesting question and remarks on how Jeff had “jumped back” to the WWF in 1997 after his one-year contract with WCW had expired. He goes on to tell Jeff to take himself back to 1999 and imagine that he was still under WWF and was told that he was going to be bumped up and put with Steve. He asks what he would have done for the feud in that scenario. He asks if Jeff would have “played off the old stuff” or if he would have taken a different approach.

Jeff immediately throws in possible storylines and scenarios, starting with an instance where Steve is talking about how he stunned Jeff multiple times and how maybe Jeff could have run his mouth and “goaded or begged or pleaded or conned.” He says maybe he could get Steve to break a rule, and maybe Evil Mr.McMahon mandated it.
He says maybe he would get Steve into a single match with him and have a showdown with him for twenty minutes where Steve would be beating the life out of him for nineteen minutes and fifty-five seconds, but somehow Jeff would squeeze out a win.
He then builds scenarios centered around airing out Steve’s falling out with Jeff regarding the promo that he did with his return to WWF in 97′ insulting Steve without requesting a green flag from Steve himself beforehand.
He continues on saying it would not be anything elaborate and that another angle they would take is by taunting Steve with old aggravating taunts since he took offense to the “original promo.” He says maybe they could “dial back to the old stuff” and maybe come out with a ton of merchandise to throw in Steve’s face, like ‘Jarrett 316’, ‘Double J3’ and ‘Sixteens Slap Nuts 316’.
He ends by saying that maybe he would maybe build something along the lines of the issues that surrounded the promo itself.
Before moving on from the question, the two also discussed how WWF Debra could be involved in the scenarios as Steve’s Achilles heel.
This is just one of the many queries the pair discussed on the episode and just a nugget from their hours-long podcast. Look out for more episodes and extracted clips from episodes on Jeff’s Podcast YouTube Channel!
