Famous actress and former model Jane Fonda debuted in 1960 with “There Was a Little Girl”, a Broadway play for which she was given the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress. It did not take the actress very long to land her first-ever film role in a romance titled “Tall Story.” After the release of her first movie, the actress continued to star in romantic comedies and found herself nominated for an Oscar just nine years into her career.
The beautiful actress managed to establish herself well in the industry as one of the best of her time, receiving two Oscars for her role in “Klute” and “Coming Home.” The actress, during the early 1980s, released one of its kind workout videos, making it the best-seller at the time. She continued to release at least twenty-two such videos over the span of thirteen years.
For the most part of her career, the actress has stuck to the romantic comedy genre, giving her fans heart-fluttering films to enjoy. And while she maintained her soft-girl image on the screen, she continued to be vocal about important social issues off-screen. Fonda is a feminist, social rights, and environmental activist, and one of the few who stood against violence towards women and the war in Iraq.
Fonda has had an extremely successful career, and there is no doubting her acting potential or even her ideologies and beliefs. But it turns out that though the actress seemingly has had a perfect life, with both beauty and brains, she, too, gave in to something as trivial as beauty standards.
She was not just an actress but also someone with a pretty successful modeling career, and it only makes sense that she felt the need to hold onto her impeccable beauty for as long as possible. Curious fans can continue reading to find out what changes did the actress cum model make to her body.
Jane Fonda’s Before & After
While it is obvious that people in the industry indulge in all sorts of procedures to look good, Fonda has refreshingly never tried to cover up the fact that she is one of them. The eighty-five-year-old looks unrealistically young for someone her age, and it is not entirely her parent’s gift to her.
In an interview with Elle magazine, the actress revealed that she has suffered from body image problems ever since she was young and that she has taken drastic measures to maintain her body and face to look like it does now. She also confessed that she plans on stopping her plastic surgery procedures to fix her face.
In a documentary Fonda shot back in 2018 titled “Fonda in Five Acts”, she admitted to having plastic surgery done to her face for the first time, also revealing how she hates herself for doing that to her younger version. She expressed that she wished she had not gotten any work done to her face to see how gracefully she would have aged naturally.
But since that is not possible, she works hard every day, battling her mental scars, trying to come to terms with her body and societal standards. She wrote in a personal blog online the details about her procedures, mentioning that she had gotten her chin and neck fixed to make them slimmer and more defined.
Somewhere in the 2000s, the actress vowed never to get anything retouched ever again but got her chin done once more to make it look even more refined. She had also gotten her under eyes done, removing the bags from under her eyes so that they do not look droopy as she gets older.
While the actress still has maintained her perfect body, she admitted that she still continues to suffer from Bulimia and body image issues, which is, obviously, not a healthy way to keep yourself thin. The actress has been on a journey toward self-acceptance and self-love, hoping to feel comfortable in the body she possesses now.
