Recap
In the previous chapter of It Was Just a Contract Marriage, the wedding day finally arrives, and Eliza comes in wearing a beautiful wedding gown. There is no doubt that she is extremely gorgeous, and people are all captivated by her beauty. However, Eliza can’t help but remember her beloved brother’s words.
She recalls Andrei and thinks that he would have gone crazy if he had been there to witness this moment. She remembered a memory where the two were talking, and Andrei was happily talking about Eliza’s marriage in the future.
He had hoped that she would marry someone she loved in a beautiful dress, where her loved ones would be present, and she would have everyone’s blessing for her new life.
It was not really a happy occasion where people were blessing their union. If anything, there was a lot of resistance against their marriage. The Archduke recalls the conversation he had with the Emperor, where he accused him of being bewitched by Eliza and falling for her seduction instead of being rational.
He wonders if he has really been bewitched by that woman. The priest asks the couple to kiss and officiate their marriage, which makes Eliza nervous. She asks Christian to pretend to kiss, but it doesn’t seem like he had any intention of simply pretending since he swoops in and gives her a passionate kiss instead.
Later on, Eliza is seen looking dazed out, and her maid is obviously worried about it. She tells Eliza how beautiful she looks in the wedding gown, but Eliza is not convinced. She felt a bit sad since Christian did not even look her way, and she got all flustered when she thought about the kiss they shared.
