The Manga of Kakegurui: Compulsive Gambler, or Kakegurui for short, is a fairly popular one and has a decent following. With over 17 Volumes and 100 Chapters, saying the manga is doing well would be an understatement. The Manga has been made into an anime by MAPPA, which ran for 2 seasons with 24 episodes.
The anime covers the first 86 Chapters of the Manga, which leaves about 20 chapters that are yet to be animated. There have been no official confirmations regarding another season of the anime, but the idea isn’t that far-fetched.
The story is centered around the Hyakkaou Private Academy, where education and luxury overlap. Even though it’s an educational institution, it is not the thing it is famous for. The sons, daughters, and potential heirs of all of Japan’s big conglomerates attend the institution, and there is a certain hierarchy they all follow.
One’s place in the hierarchy is determined solely by their ability to gamble. Don’t get me wrong, money is an important factor as well. However, one who does not have a lot of money but has a talent for gambling can easily make it big there.
Those who have lady luck by their side get to enjoy a lavish lifestyle where they can virtually do whatever they want. Should you find yourself in a bind after borrowing money to gamble only to lose it all, you will be forever into servitude by your debtor till you can pay it off.
And if you are not able to do so during your time at the school, you will forced to work them off in the real world. The story is mainly focused on one particular student of Hyakkaou Private Academy, Jabami Yumeko.
Yumeko is a second-year transfer student whose single handle was able to throw a wrench into the school’s hierarchy within days of being there. Her peers soon come to realize her bubbly personality is just a front for her gambling addiction.
She has no real interest in the money and the only thing that is motivating her is the thrill of it all. Paired with her exceptional attention to detail, she can see through her opponent’s scams from a mile away and often twists and uses it to her advantage, leaving her opponent utterly defeated.

Kakegurui Manga Recap
The last few chapters have been quite dramatic and very insightful. We got a sneak peek into the family dynamics of the Jamabi household and now know what exactly happened between Yumeko and her sister. Kirari Momobami wanting to become the head of the Jamami Household, challenges them to a gambling duel.
She defeats Souko Jabami, Yumeko’s older sister, and Tsugiko Jabami, her maternal aunt. However, to cement her position, she had to defeat one more person, and that was Yumeko herself.
Kirari forces Yumeko to gamble against Tsugiko, and she wins. She displays extreme skill in controlling the dice even though she has never touched a pair before. After all was said and done, we came to know that it was Kabura Tsibami who lent Tsugiko the initial 8 Billion yen to bet with.
Yumeko wanted to exchange her winnings for the snake eye stone as she knew Tsugiko adored it. However, Kabura was not ready to part with it yet. She asked for an extra 800 Million yen for her to give Yumeko the stone.
Kabura offers an alternative, a chance to win the snake eye stone if Yumeko bets herself as the collateral. Tsugiko begs her not to go through with it, but all her pleas fall on deaf ears. Kabura was able to read Yumeko’s feelings like a book, and Yumeko could not be happier about it. She finally feels seen by someone, and she happily accepts her wager. Saouko, who was unconscious all this time, wakes up only to realize the worst has happened. Effective immediately, Kabura will be taking charge as Yumeko’s guardian.
