Kim Duane Mulkey was born on May 17, 1962, in Santa Ana, California, US. She worked at Lousiana Tech as an assistant from 1985 and left the position in 1996. After that, she worked as the associate HC at Louisiana Tech from 1996 and left the position in 2000.
In 2000, she worked at Baylor, and in 2021, she joined LSU. As a player, she played at the NCAA Division tournament in 1982. In 1981, she played the AIAW Division tournament. As an assistant coach, she led her team to the NCAA Division tournament in 1988. In 1991 and 1993, respectively.

Mulkey was honored with the title of “Coach’ on June 10, 2009, which was celebrated at a dinner on the campus of Louisiana State University. Her marriage with Randy Robertson
Kim Mulkey married Randy Robertson in the year 1987. She met Robert while both of them were at Louisiana Tech. Randy was an athlete and played for the Bulldogs as a quarterback in the mid-70s. He also played as a punter for Louisiana Tech’s football team in 1978, becoming the first player in the school to record an assist and a sack in the same season. In 1979, Randy led the team to a victory over John Elway’s Stanford Cardinal football team.
She currently lives in Baton Rouge with two children: Mikala and Preston. Her daughter is studying at Loyola University New Orleans, and her son is studying at Louisiana State University. Kim Mulkey had a record of 73-57, leading her team to 19 wins in the Big 12 conference and a conference championship twice.
Her high school coach was the late former Louisiana Tech and Georgetown Head Coach, Sonny Joe Bennett. She credited him for helping her develop an attitude of never giving up. Bennett was also her college coach at Louisiana Tech.
She is known for setting up a basketball camp for underprivileged children every summer at Nacogdoches, Texas. She visited elementary, middle, and high schools nationwide to encourage athletes during camps by saying, “You can do anything you put your mind to.” She visited New Orleans during her visit to her daughter’s college last year (2018).

Mulkey also has a record of winning against Baylor (4) and Kansas State (5). In addition, she led her team to the NCAA Division tournament for four years 2005, 2012, 2019, and 2023. She also led her team to the Big 12 regular season in 2005, 2011, and 2021.
In June 2009, Mulkey became the 10th NCAA Division I head college basketball coach whose team has won at least 60 games. Her career winning percentage is 0.744, and her winning percentage in the Big 12 with Missouri is 0.849%. In a 2012 interview, she said she always knew that coaching could be a career for her.

Kim Mulkey’s Sons
Kim Mulkey has two sons, Austin and Tyler, with ex-husband Randy Robertson. She married Randy for 12 years when they divorced in 2006.
Kim first met her husband during his time at Louisiana Tech University as a quarterback. The couple later had two sons together in the same year, 1986, that was named Austin and Tyler. A few years ago, they were visited by their former stepfather lives on a local WHNO TV channel four news show.
