When Pearl Abyss released Crimson Desert Patch 1.13.00, the immediate highlights were easy to spot. Oongka and Damiane can now enter the Abyss, dozens of new equipment pieces have been added, and several combat-related fixes have arrived across all platforms. However, taking a closer look at the patch notes reveals a different story. Rather than being centered solely on combat, the update introduces a broad collection of features that make exploring the world smoother, more rewarding, and more immersive.
Many of the most meaningful additions are designed to improve how players interact with the game’s open world. From better gathering mechanics and expanded customization to new pet functionality and user interface improvements, Patch 1.13.00 appears to prioritize everyday gameplay just as much as battles. The update is now available on Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, and the Epic Games Store, while the Mac App Store version is still rolling out.
Exploration and quality-of-life changes steal the spotlight
The biggest gameplay addition allows both Oongka and Damiane to enter the Abyss, opening previously unavailable content for the two companions. Because of this change, Pearl Abyss also relocated certain Memory Fragments tied to rematchable bosses to ensure progression remains balanced.
Outside of combat, however, the update delivers several features that make exploration more enjoyable. A new item called the Hunter’s Sigil allows bird pets to retrieve prey and gather materials that match their specialties, giving companions a more practical role while exploring the world. Meanwhile, gathering from firefly colonies has also been improved, allowing players to collect up to three fireflies at once.
The update also adds a welcome immersion feature, as summoned pets now rest alongside the player whenever they sleep in a bed. While it doesn’t affect gameplay directly, it continues Pearl Abyss’ trend of expanding pet interactions, making companions feel like a more natural part of the adventure.
Players who enjoy exploring without interface distractions also receive a new Hide Minimap and Status option, allowing the HUD to be hidden for a cleaner experience while traveling across the game’s world.

Customization receives one of its biggest expansions yet
Patch 1.13.00 significantly expands character customization. Kliff and Oongka receive 39 new equipment pieces, including multiple boss-themed armor sets such as Tarandus the Ashen, Unyielding Hero, Knight of Carnage, Martial Monk, and Grand General of Demeniss gear. Damiane also receives eight new armor pieces along with additional boss equipment.
Customization extends beyond new armor. Most weapons and secondary weapons can now be dyed, while several disguise outfits that previously couldn’t be customized now support dyes as well. Oongka can equip most of Kliff’s outfits, and both Kliff and Oongka gain access to Kuku equipment, giving players more freedom when building their preferred appearance.
Housing also receives attention through the addition of four new carpet crafting recipes, further expanding decorative options for player homes.
Combat improvements complement the exploration focus
Combat certainly hasn’t been ignored. Muskets and pistols can now be fired while sliding, several enemy types receive new special attacks, and numerous character-specific fixes improve how abilities function during battles.
Oongka benefits from improvements to flying, Greathammer finishers, targeting while airborne, puzzles involving Scatter Shot, and Aerial Grapple compatibility. Damiane also receives multiple fixes affecting Lightning Strike, Smiting Strike, spear usage, and animation quality.
The patch also addresses long-standing technical issues, including occasional crashes while opening the map or replaying boss encounters, PS5 cutscene stuttering, loading time inconsistencies, quest progression bugs, housing glitches, camera problems, UI improvements, localization updates, and numerous visual fixes across the game.
Taken together, Patch 1.13.00 feels less like a traditional content drop focused on combat and more like a comprehensive refinement of Crimson Desert’s overall experience. While new armor sets and Abyss access headline the update, many of its most impactful additions encourage players to spend more time exploring, customizing, and simply enjoying the game’s world.
