It’s been a while since Ubisoft came out with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, but it still stands as one of Ubisoft’s best RPG games. Released as a successor to Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, this game revolved around the Viking expansions seen during 872 AD.
With almost four years in production, Valhalla features exciting new storylines and quests inspired by historical events and Norse mythology. AC: Valhalla ended up becoming Ubisoft’s best-selling game back in 2020, bringing huge profits for the video game company.
We start off the game as Eivor Varinsdottir, a Viking raider who has to collect friends and teammates to fight against the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms. What made AC Valhalla so special, besides the intriguing plot, is that the player could now dual-wield any kind of equipment.
Although AC: Valhalla’s graphics are the best of what Ubisoft could offer at that time, it does have slow pacing and a dragged storyline. This may seem like a downside for many, but having such long gameplay gives the AC: Valhalla players a chance to fully appreciate & enjoy the game.
Who Is The Traitor In Assassin’s Creed Valhalla? Exposing Soma’s Betrayer
When we begin the Song of Soma arc in Valhalla, we are introduced to Soma, leader of the Summer Army. This place is where Eivor starts a main story quest, Stench of Treachery, while in England, a part which makes sure that the player understands the importance of building strong alliances.
After being tasked with finding clues and interviewing witnesses, Eivor is asked by Soma to figure out which member of her inner circle is responsible for being the traitor and betraying her. If you manage to get the hints right and carefully piece together the puzzle, the traitor turns out to be Galinn.
Galinn was the one who sided with the enemies and let them know about the tunnel, which only Soma and her inner circle knew about. The hints, which consist of the trail of yellow paint leading to the yellow ship, let us know that all of it was done by Galinn to make sure that he wasn’t targeted in the chaotic attack,
If Soma is informed about the traitor correctly, she will kill Galinn in front of Eivor. If you choose Birna or Lif, Eivor won’t get a new ally, as they were innocent all along.
Later on in the game, Galinn reveals his betrayal against Soma. Choosing the right traitor will also help Eivor in recruiting a new member to his raiding party, Birna. It’s essential to complete Stench of Treachery in the right way so Eivor has the best raiding party when they need it.
How To Find The Grantebridge Traitor?
As the Stench of Treachery quest begins. Eivor will be able to go up to locals and talk to them if they have a bubble above their heads. Talking to one of the witnesses will let Eivor know that there’s more information available in Utbech camp & Meldeburne, so head over to those places.
After reaching Meldeburne & Utbech’s camp and rescuing Eivor’s allies, there will be a note that talks about not attacking a yellow longship. Talking to Soma’s inner circle will give an idea about their personalities and why they’re working with Soma.
Tracking the yellow paint trail will be the clue to finding the longship. Birna and Lif’s ships can be spotted here as well, showing poetry on them. Once Eivor reaches the yellow ship, they’ll see that the ship was attacked by a group of bandits.
Examining this longship will soon reveal that it belongs to Galinn (the poetry matches his dialogue from earlier), where we also see that he tried to save himself from the attack and was later caught up with wolves. Now that we know who the traitor is, Eivor has to head over to Soma and inform her.
Completing Stench of Treachery will reward Eivor with a new comrade, Birna, after a conversation with him is shown. To accurately pick out the traitor from her inner circle, Soma will give Eivor a brand-new stunning shield after completion of the task.
From here on, Eivor has a new raid member and can proceed into the next part of the storyline. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is filled with many such adventurous quests, giving Eivor new equipment and exciting rewards in return.
