During HYBE’s annual general shareholders’ meeting held on March 31, 2025, CEO Lee Jae Sang addressed the highly anticipated full comeback of BTS, explaining that the group will need “time” before resuming full group activities.
As the BTS members approach the completion of their mandatory military service, with all members expected to be discharged by mid-2025, the CEO outlined the necessity for adequate preparation, deliberation, and coordination before the group makes its return to the global stage.
Lee Jae Sang shared that although HYBE is already preparing by collaborating with top-tier composers for future projects, the artists themselves need time to reflect and align on their vision and the next phase of their career.

He emphasized that BTS’s next steps will be carefully considered, as they are no longer just a K-pop group but global icons whose decisions will shape their future direction.
The process will involve creating new songs, releasing albums, and eventually touring, but the group’s approach will be more nuanced due to their elevated status in the global music industry.
The CEO further explained that BTS members RM and V, who are currently serving as active-duty soldiers, will be discharged together on June 10, 2025, followed by Jimin and Jungkook on June 11.
Meanwhile, SUGA, who has been serving as a social service worker, is expected to complete his service on June 22. Jin and J-Hope, who have already been discharged, have been focusing on solo projects.
Jin, for example, is set to appear in the upcoming Netflix variety show Kian’s Bizarre B&B set for release on April 8, while J-Hope continues to promote his latest digital single Sweet Dreams, which he released on March 7.
As fans eagerly await the full return of BTS, the group’s management and the members themselves are taking the time necessary to ensure that their next phase will be as impactful and meaningful as their previous achievements.
