The French-Belgium crime-comedy called HPI or Haut Potential Intellectual is a series that was launched on April 20th, 2021. The show is directed by Stephane Carrie, Alice Chegaray-Breugnot, and Nicolas Jean and follows the life of Morgane, the high-IQ housekeeper who finds herself helping and becoming a part of the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police to solve high-profile cases.
The show stars Audrey Fleurot as Morgane Alvaro, Cypriane Gardin as Thea Alvaro, Noe Vandevoorde as Eliott Alvaro, Mehdi Nebbou as Adam Karadec, Bruno Sanches as Gilles Vandraud, and Maria Denarnaud as Celine Hazan. The show revolves mostly around its main cast, which is why its supporting cast and guest appearances are kept at a small number.
The show follows the life of a house helper named Morgane Alvaro, a thirty-eight years old woman living alone with her three kids that she had from her two ex-husbands, who are absent from her life for the most part. Raising three kids all by herself is a difficult task, and it forces her to take up a job as a housekeeper.
A twist to her story is added when we find out that Morgane may be workings as a house help, but she is extremely intelligent, with an IQ of 160. It gets tough for her to hide her intelligence and keep it a secret, and it is not long before the local police department of Lille, the place where the entire show is shot, find her on their radar.
While it is surprising that such an intelligent person would be working as a mere house helper instead of utilizing her capabilities to the fullest, the Lille Police Department does not waste a second after knowing about her abilities and decide to offer her a job worth her caliber as a consultant. But things do not go that smoothly even at her new job because very soon, her coworkers find that their new consultant has issues when it comes to dealing with legal authority.
HPI Season 3 Episode 1 Plotline
The comedy series sticks to its basic storyline of how a gifted housekeeper gets hired by the DIPJ, the branch of the French Police that deals with heinous crimes, and how the department and Morgane struggle to find a way to fit with each other perfectly. But as the seasons progress, the storylines of all the main characters get more complicated, along with the introduction of new characters.
Season two had Morgane deal with the struggle of balancing taking care of her kids and the house on the one hand and working her job on the other. She also found herself a new crush within her department, who happened to be in a happy relationship with another coworker.
The last episode of the second season forced Morgane to face her long-gone love life, which seems to have made a comeback in the worst way possible. The series, HPI, is a comedy but the finale for the second season seemed to end on an emotional note.
