Netflix’s first-ever African reality series, Young, Famous & African, released its first season on March 18th, 2022. They brought together famous African social media stars to Johannesburg, South Africa, all in an attempt to create the spiciest reality show. The first episode of season one revealed that the only checkbox one had to clear to be on the show was to be rich and godly looking.
Throughout the season, we see the A-listers live in a communal space, all the while flirting and fighting with each other. While many on the show are already successful and well-known, others get cast so that they can make a name for themselves and gain some social media popularity. The show is completely focused on African personalities, which is why fans may see celebrities from parts of Africa, including South Africa, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Uganda.
The new season of the show will have some of the previous season’s cast, like Andile Ncube, Annie Macauley-Idibia, Nadia Nakai, Naked DJ, Zari Hassan, Khanyi Mbau, Swanky Jerry, Kayleigh Schwark, Diamond Platnumz, and 2Baba return to the show once again. This season will also have some new additions, with the likes of Bonang Matheba, Fantana, Luis Munana, Sebabatso Mothibi, and lastly, Rosette Ncwana.

With Netflix going on a canceling spree to cancel or shut down some of its extremely successful shows, fans were definitely worried if Young, Famous & African was going to have the same fate. Thankfully not, as the platform announced the premiere of the second season on May 18th, 2023. The show is all set to make a comeback, and this time, even more bling and sparkle.
Not only certain members of the old cast will be returning to the show, but we will also get to see their chemistry with the new cast, which includes Bonang Matheba, an extremely successful host and actress from South Africa, Fantana, an Afro-America musician, Luis Munana, one of the few cast members who mainly work behind the camera instead of in front of it, he is a writer, director, and producer, who also featured on Big Brother Africa for a short while.
The show has cast another gorgeous model named Sebabatso Mothibi alongside another model and actress called Rosette Ncwana. It is great fun watching these celebrities enter the show with a mask of politeness and awkward energy that slowly gets taken off to show their true energies and ugly egos. One would think that money and fame must have made them more classy and conscious of their actions, but clearly, the show has a magical ability to make them desperate for love and screen time, forcing them to get into ugly fights and cry sessions.
