Waco: The Aftermath- Series Overview
The series begins in the wake of the deadly siege at Waco; Gary Noesner, an FBI negotiator, contends with finger-pointing and his guilt. The surviving Branch Davidians arrives in court during the rising tension in the U.S. for their trial, as it is beginning. A flashback reveals an adolescent, Vernon Howell arriving in Mount Carmel before becoming David Kosher.
The testimony in the courtroom becomes heated between the two parties, with each pointing the finger at the other and blaming them for shooting first. Angie and Gary discover interesting information during a stakeout at the Aryan Nation Flophouse. Vernon shares his vision after returning from the pilgrimage, whereas Gary pleads with FBI officers to take the threat of domestic bombing seriously.
Cogdell informs his team of a strange encounter he had and later meets a man who isn’t as crazy as he appeared. Gary has a disturbing confrontation after he discovers a clue. Livingstone is invited by Vernon to join him in Texas and later makes a decision with massive consequences. Carol invades Elohim City undercover, where there is a chilling undercurrent about war.
Cogdell wins multiple times during the cross-examination in the court trials but wonders if that would be enough to win the case. The event is perilous when Vernon battles for control over Mount Carmel. Gary finds himself lacking time as he hopes to prevent another disaster from taking place. The surviving Branch Davidians’ fate is revealed as the case concludes, and Vernon returns as a self-proclaimed Prophet David Koresh at Mount Carmel.
