Ever played a game of Mafia with your friends and wondered if there was a way to dramatize it even more? Well, the new series called Traitors NZ has figured out a form, and we will tell you about it. Continue reading till the end to find out what the show is about and where you watch the show, Traitors NZ’s Episodes.
You must have seen posters and videos of popular radio broadcaster, Paul Henry in a fedora hat, with a can in one hand and a drink in the other, looking all serious. From what we know, he will lead this grand-scale ‘devilish’ mafia game.
The game is simple, you have a room full of people who belong to one of the two categories, ‘faithful’ and ‘traitors’. The goal is to identify the traitors from among the group before they end up getting rid of you. The show has taken inspiration from the original Dutch game show called De Verraders, which came out in 2021.
Ever since the Dutch show gained global popularity, different versions of it have been popping up with the English title, The Traitors, including this recent one, which is said to be based in New Zealand. We believe it to be difficult for the creators to go wrong with the format of the game, which is why we are positive that the show will be as entertaining as it will be thrilling.
Traitors NZ: The Plot
What we have in this game is a total of nineteen players, who have been divided into ‘faithful and traitors’, and nobody knows who belongs to what team except for the contestants themselves. The game continues on like a simple game of mafia, except this one has a cash prize waiting for the players at the end.
The traitors will get to meet each other to figure out who they want to get rid of, and thus, on a weekly basis, some of the players will end up saying goodbye to the game. The eliminated players will be sent a pretty wax-sealed letter that will let them know that their time is up and that ‘they have been murdered’.
This is not even the fun part, the actual fun begins when every night all of the nineteen contestants, including the traitors, come together to guess who they think is the traitor. This is solely based on their hunch and their guesses, and at the end of the night, they have to make a decision to kill one of the players.
With the traitors pretending to be faithful, the players have to be careful because one wrong decision could lead to the death of one of their own team members, bringing the traitors one step closer to victory. The traitors do their best to derail the innocent ones, as the last surviving traitor will get to take the entire sum of seventy thousand dollars home by themselves.
If the winning team is that of the ‘faithful one’ then, the sum will get divided equally among all of them. Host Paul Henry will be leading the show and passing his commentary throughout. The traitors, in hopes of making the show even more interesting, can also switch sides, backstab their own team and dial the suspicious nature of the show to eleven.
