Lies Hidden In My Garden: About The Show
Sometimes, simple things can have a dark origin, which is a concept that Lies Hidden In My Garden considers seriously. Moon Joo Ran grew up in a well-cared-for environment, meaning she had no idea about how it was to be poor. After marrying Jae Ho, a pediatric doctor, she lives in the countryside of South Korea in a modern and stunning home. As much as Joo Ran would like to be grateful for what she has, a stench coming from her backyard seems to be putting her off greatly.
The smell causes Moon Joo Ran to recall her problematic past, which we are shown is the reason her family shifted here from Seoul. Jae Ho tries to gaslight Moon Joo Ran into thinking the smell was her imagination, but she eventually starts believing it to be real more each day. When Jae Ho is not at home, Moon Joo Ran starts investigating the origin of the smell. A simple bad smell turns out to be the reason Moon Joo Ran ends up meeting Chu Sang Eun, a woman that lived a completely different life than her.
Chu Sang Eun had no direct connection with Moon Joo Ran. She grew up in a poor household, and even after marrying Kim Yun Beom, her life hasn’t improved much at all. What’s worse is that Kim Yun Beom beats her up, and she has to try and make a living despite the worsening conditions. Kim Yun Beom works in a well-known pharmacy company. One day, he doesn’t arrive home from work, and it’s up to Chu Sang Eun to investigate the whereabouts of her husband.
