What would you do if you took a shortcut and bluffed your way throughout to achieve your dream career, but everything is threatened when your bluff is almost called out due to you backstabbing everyone who trusted you, leaving you no connections to cover you?
A brilliant thriller series titled “Kuş Uçuşu” has been released by Netflix and has a similar plot to the series protagonist Asli, who has bluffed her way to work at the same place her favourite new anchor, Lale, works at, only for her ambition to grow to the point she attempts to overthrow Lale and be in her position.
Directed by Deniz Yorulmazer, the thriller series stars Birce Akalay playing the role of Lale Kiran, the new anchor and Asli’s inspiration; Miray Daner playing the role of Asli Tuna, the series protagonist and a young girl with big dreams; Ibrahim Celikkol playing the role of Kenan Sezgin, Lale’s former boyfriend.
Burak Yamantürk playing the role of Selim Kiran, Lale’s husband and father of her kids; Irem Sak playing the role of Müge Türkmen, Lale’s co-worker, and Defne Kayalar playing the role of Gül in the lead. The supporting cast includes Merve Nil Güder playing Mia’s role, Asena Hotamis playing Ece’s role, and Darren O’Hare playing Yusuf’s role.
The series plot centres around Asli, an ambitious young girl with a desire to become a successful news anchor similar to Lale, her role model, so she bluffs her way to gain an internship at the place where Lale works, and once she is successful at gaining the opportunity, she isn’t ready to give up.
Asli’s desire becomes too intense as she starts to set traps in an attempt to get fellow interns with her in trouble, and soon she devises a plan to overthrow Lale, even though Lale has been nothing but supportive of Asli, as she sees herself in Asli, but there is a huge difference between the two.
Where Lale has worked her way up the ladder through hard work and determination, Asli skipped the ladder and bluffed her way through an internship to get a step closer to her dreams and continued to set traps and backstab others instead of working hard.
Recap
The series centres around Lale, an ambitious young girl who crosses all limits, from trying to trap her fellow interns to bluffing her way to get an internship at Lale’s workplace to become like her role model, Lale, a successful television anchor, only for her desire to become successful to overpower her to the point she tries to sabotage Lale, who was once her inspiration.
Lale has had a successful career as a news anchor for a long time, as she has worked her way from the bottom to the top of her life because she is married to Selim, and the couple has two children who love her immensely as she manages her personal and professional lives perfectly.
Lale used to date Kenan, her coworker, during her college days, and even though they broke up and Lale moved on in her life, Kenan failed to do the same and still loves her dearly, a fact that Asli uses to her advantage. Another coworker of Lale, Muge, is also her friend, but she is jealous of the success Lale has.
Well, now enters Asli, an admirer of Lale who fibs her way to get a job without even sitting for her interview on the channel Lale works at.
Over time, she desires to become the next Lale, even if it will cost Lale everything, and she doesn’t refrain from anything as she gets rid of her fellow interns by setting traps for them that they often fall into due to having a blind trust on Asli as she pretends to be everyone’s friends.
Slowly, Asli gets rid of Lale’s PA, and along the way, the audience gets to know that Asli doesn’t care about anyone but herself and that everything is fair for her, even if it costs her the friendship and love of the people around her.
As we come to Lale, she isn’t like other anchors, she is a compassionate soul who became successful through her hard work.
Asli fails to see that the person she desires to become has reached her level of success through her hard work and determination, as opportunities didn’t fall in her lap, whereas Asli hasn’t done any hard work but wants to achieve the same level through manipulation.
Well, Lale finally realises the truth behind all of Asli’s lies, after she visits Ozge at the hospital where he tells her about Asli telling him that Lale wasn’t interested in meeting him while she told Lale that Ozge didn’t want her to visit him but instead of giving Asli to the cops, Lale gives Asli another chance to prove her worth, but Asli denies her offer and continues to cause a ruckus for Lale that leads to a fallout between Lale and Kenan.
The series ends with Lale resigning from her job after she has a fallout with Kenan to spend time with her family, while Asli gets to live her dream of being the next Lale, but once she becomes Lale, she comes to the realization that she isn’t ready to be Lale due to her not having enough experience in the field because she made her way to fame through manipulation.
