Julia, a 2022 biographical drama, was first aired last year. It was immediately renewed for a second season in the same year, which was a piece of exciting news for the viewers. Created by Daniel Goldfarb, Julia is a fun drama based on the life of Julia Child, who was a famous person.
In case you didn’t know, Julia Child was an American chef, author, and TV personality. In this drama, Julia is played by the famous English actress Sarah Lancashire, who very nicely portrays the chef’s character.
Before anything, you must learn that Julia was a fierce woman in the 1960s in Cambridge, Massachusetts, who was doing something that wasn’t typical for her gender. At the time, she was working for herself, which wasn’t taken lightly by society. That’s what’s depicted in the show – her struggles and occasionally difficult circumstances she faced during the production of her TV cooking show known as The French Chef.
Apart from Sarah, other cast members who play a major role in the show are David Hyde Pierce who plays Paul Child, Bebe Neuwirth as Avis DeVoto, Fran Kranz, who plays Russ Morash, Fiona Glascott as Judith Jones, and Brittany Bradford as Alice Naman who together add sparkle to this drama with their skills.
Julia featured eight episodes in total in the first season, which was first aired on 31st March 2022. The season concluded on 5th May 2022, leaving fans sad and waiting for more. The new season was released on 16th November 2023 and is expected to end on 21st December 2023. The run time of a single episode ranges from forty to fifty minutes on average which only feels less and less as one gets consumed by this story.
Julia was a brave person and as expected, the show is loved widely by the viewers and has gotten a solid 8.3 rating on IMDb, and 93% of viewers liked it on Rotten Tomatoes as well!
Plot Of The Show
Julia is a show that mainly focuses on Julia and the changes in her life that she goes through as an emerging celebrity, her relationship with her coworkers, and other struggles in terms of her cooking show.
In the second season, she is just learning to discover her new and changed life, thanks to her show and the countless doors it opened for her.
Motivated by these changes, both good and bad, and the newfound freedom, she, along with her group, tries to work for some social issues that affect humans in the world. But this isn’t an easy path to walk on and that’s what this season will explore further deeply.
