Masahiro Takata’s comedy anime Dekoboko Majo No Oyako Jijou will start airing its episodes soon. After the manga series written by Piroya managed to gather quite the attention since its release, it was high time that the entertaining fantasy manga got its own special anime adaptation.
Flex Comics first published Piroya’s manga back in July 2019, with it having a total of 5 volumes up until now. The storyline of Dekoboko Majo No Oyako Jijou, translated to “The Family Circumstances of the Irregular Witch,” centers on a cute yet powerful witch who lives deep within the forest.
After finding a lonely, abandoned human baby, Alissa decides to adopt her and raise her as her daughter. However, as time passes by, Viola grows up to be much larger than Alissa, confusing others about who’s the actual mom in the family.
While this unique dynamic is sure to bring some hilarious moments in the anime, it’s also going to have a ton of diverse and equally comical characters that are going to make Dekoboko Majo no Oyako Jijou an interesting watch.
Dekoboko Majo no Oyako Jijou: About The Anime
Alissa and her adoptive 16-year-old daughter try to make a peaceful living in the middle of a dense but calm forest. Viola looks up to her mom and would do anything to protect her, even if it means burning up everything when someone looks at Alissa the wrong way.
The local people always assume Viola’s the mom in the family due to her larger build and reserved personality. What they don’t know is that Alissa is a witch who somehow never ages, which is why she looks so young despite being the mom of a whole 16-year-old.
It’s too early to guess whether The Family Circumstances of the Irregular Witch‘s storyline would be exactly like its manga, but for now, the trailer shows most things the manga features. Along with a bunch of characters with stories of their own, we’ll be seeing a day in the life of the mother-daughter duo in each of the episodes.
Alissa will be voiced by Aoi Koga, while Viola will be voiced by Nana Mizuki. Both of these are well-known voice actors and to see them voicing characters from Dekoboko Majo no Oyako Jijou is going to be fun. You may already be familiar with these voice actors as they’ve worked in some all-time iconic anime.
Aoi Koga has previously voiced characters like Kaguya Shinomiya from Kaguya-sama: Love is War, Love Cute in Mashle, and Maria Amabuki in Zombieland Saga. Nana Mizuki is the voice behind Hinata Kyuga in Naruto and Boruto, Margaret Liones from The Seven Deadly Sins, and Kozuki Hiyori from One Piece.
Besides Aoi Koga and Nana Mizuki, other voice actors that have joined Dekoboko Majo no Oyako Jijou’s crew are Romi Park (Lyra), Yo Taichi (Giriko), Akira Sekine (Luna) and Takayuki Kondo (Fennel).
