The beloved How to Train Your Dragon animated films are making a magical transition to live-action, promising a tale of wonder and friendship. Astrid actress Nico Parker recently opened up about her feelings regarding the project in an interview.
While expressing nervousness about meeting expectations, Parker conveyed her belief that the end result would be nothing short of “wonderful.” Emphasizing her deep care for the project, she highlighted the commitment of the talented team involved.
“I’m nervous about all of it because I care about it so much and everyone cares about it so much, and I just so would love to make everyone proud,” Parker admitted. “It’s being made with such brilliant people and everyone’s so talented and everyone cares about it so deeply.”
Parker spoke about her conversation with Dean DeBlois, the director responsible for the animated movies, expressing excitement for her involvement in the project. She emphasized the need for a unique interpretation, acknowledging that while the animated versions are brilliant, the live-action adaptation is its own film with its own magic.
“I think it’s very much its own thing, but I’d like to think so much of that magic is also prevalent in this one,” Parker continued. “But I think it’s its own film and it’s its own interpretation, and everyone has their own version of a character.”
The cast includes Mason Thames alongside Parker, taking on the lead roles of Hiccup and Astrid. Gerard Butler reprises his role as Stoick the Vast, and other notable actors include Nick Frost, Julian Dennison, Gabriel Howell, Bronwyn James, and Harry Trevaldwyn.
Dean DeBlois, the creative force behind much of the animated franchise, will be making his live-action debut as the writer, director, and producer. Marc Platt, recognized for works like Legally Blonde and the upcoming Wicked movie, will be producing.
The live-action adaptation of How to Train Your Dragon is scheduled for an exclusive theatrical release on June 13, 2025. As anticipation builds, fans are invited to share their thoughts on Nico Parker’s insights and their excitement for this enchanting cinematic journey in the comments below.
