Jeff Rake’s supernatural series had a bunch of airline passengers and crew getting out of a plane after almost five years of being perceived as lost or dead just recently wrapped up its final season. The show, titled Manifest, was launched first in 2018 on NBC and was later picked up by Netflix when the former decided to cancel it right after its third season.
The show has cast actress Melissa Roxburgh, Josh Dallas, Luna Blaise, Parveen Kaur, Matt Long, Ty Doran, Jack Messina, and so many more who contribute greatly to the cast. The series basically follows the lives of those on board the Montego Air Flight 828 flying from Jamaica to New York City.
Now we know a flight is supposed to be the faster way of travel but apparently not for the passengers on board this particular flight, as they experience some mild turbulence which appears normal to them and when they land they are told that it has been five years since the got on the plane.
The NSA deputy director, Robert Vance, tells them that they have been in the air for the past five years and a half, though to them, it did not even feel like it.
But the world thought them to be dead, and now as these passengers meet with their family and friends, they feel lost and confused but also soon realize that all of them have developed the abilities to see or maybe, hear about what is to occur next.
If this sounds like your kind of show, then continue reading below, where we will tell you whether or not the show is worth a watch.
How Many Seasons Are There In Manifest?
Fans who are already done with the series must know that this supernatural series just recently launched and wrapped up its final season on June 2nd, 2023.
Overall, the show has a total of four seasons though it was about to end at only three because NBC thought it would be fun to get the audience completely invested and then cancel the show without any warning.
Right after the announcement was made, Netflix decided to add the show to its long list of shows, only for it to get ridiculously high views, pushing the latter to make one more season to properly end the series. The last season has a total of twenty episodes, released in two different parts.
Is It Worth Watching?
When the first season was released for the fans to watch, many ended up comparing it to another show based on a slightly similar plot involving a plane. Many called it ‘wannabe-Lost,’ but others appreciated it for being a little more emotionally satisfying and admitting that it even surpassed ‘Lost’ in terms of success.
Thankfully those who have not watched the show, they can now get to streaming it, knowing that they have a complete storyline with an immensely satisfying ending.
The show has a talented cast that manages to express a balanced aspect of supernatural and emotional turmoil and drama. Being able to combine both of these themes in a beautiful mix for every episode of the show is one reason why it got so much love.
This is also one of those shows that become darker as the seasons progress. The last season does justice to the supporting characters as well by neatly tying all of the loose ends and untouched storylines.
As things turn worse and worse for the passengers of flight 828, the show also becomes hard to watch as their hardships and situation start feeling too real.
The show makes you sympathize with the characters and feel their emotions with them. While the previous seasons of the show may feel a bit slow-paced, the last seasons feel the complete opposite, with things happening quickly and the makers trying to wrap up storylines.
The show has its own cult following and has many desperately begging for the end. While we will not tell you how the show ended, we will tell you that the show will suck you in, make you go through the traumas of the characters with them, take you on an emotional ride, wreck and destroy you completely and then try to fix with you with a satisfying end.
So if you like putting yourself through torture or if you like watching other people suffer and go through excruciating emotional pain throughout all of the seasons right till the show finally ends, then this series, Manifest, should definitely be on your watch list.
