Houston’s popular rapper Big Pokey collapsed on stage on June 17, Saturday while performing at a bar in the city of Beaumont. The 45-year-old singer started to gasp while his performance at the Pour 09 Bar, and he fell back on the stage. People who were present rushed and took Pokey to the hospital after paramedics tried their CPR. But on Sunday, the hospital authorities declared that he died soon after the collapse.
Big’s publicist said that It was with deep sadness that they shared news of the passing of beloved Milton ‘Big Pokey’ Powell. Big Pokey passed away on June 18, 2023. He also added that he was loved by his friends, family, and his loyal fans. And further added the statement as a reference to his first rap music album that Big Pokey will forever be The Hardest Pit In The Litter. Yet they have not revealed the cause of Poker’s death. Big Pokey was best known for influential Houston-based hip-hop collective artists. He was also a founding member of the Screwed Up Click.
Big Pokey was associated with chopped and screwed music and was one of the early members of Screwed Up Click. In 2005, Pokey charted in the Billboard Hot 100 when he was featured on the Paul Wall single called “Sittin Sidewayz.” Last year, he was also featured on Southside Royalty Freestyle by Megan Thee Stallion.
